Haven't seen transcript and can't stream at work, did they discuss next years plan?
Went early on the tweet. Twitter storm is hard for me to make sense of. Waiting for the website to publish the presser. I'm curious if he'll take a coaching job with is as originally intended, assume that's your query too.. Media seems to be natural for him?

I believe he is very keen to be involved with coaching more than media, Bomber talked about his love of the detail and strategy of footy last night

Never say never and he is contracted but that hasn't stopped the Dockers in the past
And it does sound like an article just to get clicks and fill the paper but did him and partner announce they are expecting a child recently and if she is from WA it is understandable
He is an exciting player and although not critical he would be a loss as he is coming into his prime

Yes he is.

I stopped reading after I saw the name. Hackdorn.

Yep, he's on my BS list with Rucci and Denham and Roy Masters. Every state has one.

That's fine. I have no problems if Freo are chasing him, but at least say they are planning a raid on a contracted player, and not state that his contract is up this year. If the facts written were the facts, I'd be okay with it. How efing hard is it for journos to get facts right?

Journos will mistate facts to suit the angle of the article and also the agenda they have
I was disgusted with Jake Niall and Sarah Jones I think on fox footy the other night slamming the Suns and the use of the word 'irrelevant'
Terrible use of language and so negative I thought i was listening to some BF posters

IIRC he was chased by both WA teams last time he was out of contract (and not cemented in the 22) and he signed with us anyway.

Oh well, try, try again (and again)

Brett Anderson and the bridge troll from The Age both suggesting Josh Kelly close to re-signing.

Not getting too excited as this sort of thing as it happened with Treloar and he ultimately left but hopefully they are right.

On another front Dean Soloman as knocked us back for an assistant coaching role, reckon we make a play for Adam Kingsley or Blake Caracella. Some strategy help for Leon would be good!

I have now watched his and Leon's presser. He was very non-committal and said he would consider offerrs that came his way. Leon didn't mention it, just a testimonial really.

He literally said that he would try to head into coaching when he re-signed last year, though at the time he suggested he'd head back to Melbourne to do so.

Article on the herald sun with the McVeigh rumour that I am sure I saw several weeks ago somewhere on here
Not that he would cross to the enemy as a former captain he will get a cushy development job
Old and cooked and not needed with next years retiree in Griffen already here
Not that it would happen but Brett Kirk would be highly rated at the Swans and I am not sure if he is doing the coaches course but if he is I am sure the Swans would like him to be at the club long term

Liking the look of the team at the moment and fingers crossed we can get through the season with no more long term injuries. That being said, with multiple unsigned players, just wanted to propose a worst case scenario trade period where we lose Kelly, Smith and Hopper, and seeing whether this would be an alright outcome.

2017 Draft

2017 Draft Picks: 2, 18 (985 points), 19 (948 points), 25 (756 points), 50 (273 points), 71 (29 points), 89, 107, 125

Pick 2: Paddy Dow (Vic Country)/Luke Davis-Uniacke (Vic Country) – hoping to get a quality inside/outside midfielder with the loss of Kelly, both have good acceleration out of packs and could help reduce the reliance on Shiel in the future (who might need rests in the future with recurrent shoulder subluxations)

Pick 18: Lochie O'Brien (Vic Country) - A good endurance runner who can work on his inside game to become a more balanced midfielder, would like to have a good outside runner developing in the seconds in case injuries hit the best 22. Would consider Jack Higgins (Vic Metro)/Jaidyn Stephenson (Vic Metro)/Hunter Clark (Vic Country)/Nicholas Coffield (Vic Metro) too if they were available.

Pick 19: Aaron Naughton (WA)/Oscar Clavarino (Vic Country) – Looking for a quality key position player, after Brander, I don’t really rate that many of the KPFs, would rather wait on the 2018 crop of forwards, so would love a good intercept marker who can also play tall like Naughton, can develop him to play a key defensive role in the future or to fill Hayne’s intercept role if needed

Pick 25: Charlie Spargo (Allies) – a good mid/small forward who can also rotate into the midfield, important since we are lacking youth in the small forward department

Academy Selection: Jack Powell (Allies) – similar rationale to Spargo, whilst both are more midfielders, they could rotate for the outside mid and crumber role in the reserves

Rookie: Nicholas Shipley (Allies) – With Griffen, Setterfield and Taranto already available as spare big bodied midfielders, don’t see an imminent need for Shipley. That being said, he is a good academy player and would still bring him in as a rookie if available.

2018 Draft

Would look to add a key forward like Jack Lukosius to the team with Brisbane’s 2018 1st pick (might have to trade up), with Matt Flynn moving to a more permanent ruck position.

Second priority would be small forwards.
