Agree, would always prefer a hard working slightly less skillful player, then a lazy talented one, Kerridge/T Menzel.
Instead of scrutiny being on Kerridge, it should be on Levi. Although he has execellent hands and had his first ok season. His kicking is still poor and his movement around the ground is too slow.
We tried to trade him and no one wanted him which says a lot. If he doesn't have a really big 2018 season, then he should be delisted IMO. This is why we should move Weiters or Rowe forward now
Casboult is on a 2 year contract.
He gives Kreuzer a chop out in the ruck.
When McKay pushes him out, then he is a more than handy player for our VFL team and as back up for the Seniors.
Rowe is just average.
Weiters I think showed us his best footy is in defence.

That’s what I don’t get with Levi.
He has always has a terrible natural drop of the ball etcetera this leading to wayward direction, although I’m no professional athlete etc. but you look at most successful players athletes and the number one aspect which jumps out at me is that they practised their skills over and over again, Bradman , Beckham etc not only did they do their job training but they practised for many hours more than the norm. Fev has stated he was only allowed to kick x Amount of goals at training, he said he went to a local footy ground, (I forget where) but he said he practised heaps more goal kicking alone
He kicked a lot of goals and ended up being Coleman I think twice. Basically what I’m saying is for a professional footballer as Levi is, I question his desire to right his wrong and just practise, practise and practise, just like the saying practise makes perfect. The talented player might take 1/3 time to be a good goal kicking forward but Levi just has to try harder. I wonder if he does his own goal kicking over and over in his spare time ?

Weiters is a Backman looks very comfortable there whilst Rowe is just as slow as Levi but a better kick, not sure they are the answers.Mckay is very important to us this year and Kerr is still developing.

They're not the answer but fill ins whilst others develop. McKay Kerr Silvagni (maybe BSOS) are our future. Next year there is also a lot of very good young talls in the draft. These days you only need one

Go to any training session and Levi works as hard as anyone especially on goal kicking. Maybe he has done well to get to the level he has and that's his limit?

I’m referring to outside footy not at training. If only doing min training then he will always be a 40/60 chance at goal
Just like Cripps , the man, he hired his own fitness coach in offseason , this is what I’m talking about

Agreed. How many times did Levi kill our momentum by not kicking straight. For us to go to another level and win those tight matches we need a better replacement. Atm there's young McKay, Kerr and the experiment of weitering forward (and Rowe a couple of years ago). I think weitering has looked the most dangerous out of the lot. He's a straight kick, and can take a mark..a bit of the Harry Taylor mould, can go forward but is a natural defender. I think we're all crossing our fingers that McKay has a break out year. We need it.

He does a lot of work on his kicking during training and outside of training sessions. He has a kicking coach. I can't question his work ethic. I actually think he has got the best out of himself. We can't all be stars based on working hard

I’m going to have to disagree
His ball drop most times is from outer space
A shouldnt be doing that now weather if he kicks a goal or not

Casboult improved so much this last year on his goal kicking conversion. 34 goals 18 is not too bad. Hopefully he can keep that conversion rate up over the next couple of years.

My biggest disappointment with Casboult this year was some of the second and third efforts that he didn't put in. I remember a few goals scored against us because Casboult just let a player run around him without putting on too much pressure.

we were saying the same thing about ed curnow a couple of years ago but he improved his kicking and his game went to another level. i see kerridge in the same mould , he is improving to a good footballer before our eyes , but some supporters cant see it.

And Carrazzo ten years ago. Both have forged good careers. Kedge will never be a star but if he’s around for another 5 years as a role player fringe player I have no dramas

I agree, his ball drop and style is poor but it has improved a lot. BUT to say its because of work ethic or not trying to fix it is wrong. Sometimes you just don't have the ability

I can practice my golf everyday for 8 hours but I will never hit it well enough to be a tour pro. Just don't have the talent

Yes he kills momentum by not kicking straight. However he clunks the marks that 60% wouldn’t get near. So creates opportunities we wouldn’t have otherwise.

Need to look at it realistically. He’s not a saviour but has been very handy for us in the meantime. He’s come off a rookie list and he’s always had his deficiencies. He at least busts a gut where the Megahead, McCarthy & Mitchell types are long gone

It is why I always felt push him further up the ground so he is taking marks around the ground and not expect him to be a goal kicker so much. However, do not think he has enough of a tank to do that so ends up playing back deep in our forward line and virtually out marks everyone in the league in a pack situation but then cannot kick for goal to save his life. Poor fellow. Poor us...

The problem with Levi playing "further up the ground"?

He turns it over closer to the opposition goals.........

Exactly we've regressed badly since Fevola's exit no individual talent and the lack of footy IQ and leading patterns to create a threatening forward line.
None since has come close to the footballer Fevola was. Next year, either of the King bros and or Lukosious should be ours. We need a precocious elite tall he's comming soon.

The young talent we have now is quality, the grass isn't always greener next year. Max King may end up like Schache! Lukosious will be most likely gone before we pick.

Mckay, Charlie, Jack and a Rayner or Fogarty would be a dynamic forward line. When Curnow takes his turn through the midfield then Cripps and Kennedy could rest forward or play a smaller setup with three pressure forwards.

yeah. He dropped at least two chest marks directly in front of gaols when the game was in the balance this year. They are hard to get over.

Given that we will win the flag next year I am not sure how we will get these early picks
