Worth a look at the very least, I agree. Not Oxley though, he can find the ball but is a poor kick.
He is very slow but the earth is patient.

Hi all.

I really like this side:
B: Plowman Jones Marchbank
HB: Byrne Weitering Cunningham (this is obviously experimentation - but he's line breaking speed and kicking could really set us up.
C: Fisher Cripps Docherty
HF: Charlie Harry Rayner
F: Pickett Levi Wright

Foll: Kreuz, Kennedy, Murphy

IC: Ed, Lang, JSOS, Simmo

Emg: Willo, Macreadie, Kedge

Depth: Pick 10, Lobbe, Phillips, Lamb, ASOS, Thomas, Kerr, Boek, Polson, etc...

Only change for me would be willo for Byrne.

I have gone back and looked at the ruckmen already on our list and was surprised to find out that Phillips is nearly as old as Kreuzer & Lobbe (they are all 27-28yo). I initially proposed Jake Spencer as a recruiting option purely as insurance given there are injury clouds hanging over all three and we cannot afford to leave ourselves vulnerable.

However, I am now certain we will be trying to bring in another ruckmen this year but a much younger one. At present, Scott Jones from East Perth would seem like a very shrewd investment given he is 22yo and is 204cm.

Big framed, he could be given 2-3 years to get up to speed at AFL level at which time, you'd have to think at least one of the main three will be close to pulling the pin.

I was surprised when Phillips was given a two year contract - one year would have been more than enough.

Can't see the club planning on playing 3 rucks in the VFL

I think we are on the verge of a gamebreaking side.

In my mind the backline is already set.

FB: Plowman Weitering Williamson
HB: Byrne Marchbank Docherty

That back six is better than any other young back six in the league. All mobile. All talented. All very good kicks. What a team to be brining it out of defence.

Midfield needs a bit of work still.

R: [????] Cripps SPS
C: Fisher Kennedy Cuningham
Int: Pick #3, Pick #10, Boekhurst, 2018 1st

We need to hit the midfield with our first round picks this season and next. Cripps and Kennedy are already very good and SPS is a class talent. When the draft picks mature we'll have one of the most talented midfield groups going around.

HF: Kerridge Curnow Lang
FF: Silvagni McKay Pickett

Forward line definitely still needs work, and it may be something we address at pick #30 this year, or through a trade or FA next off season. But what we do have there.. SOS, Charlie, Harry and Pickett have talent to burn and Kerridge and Lang provide a lot of run and pressure.

Its a side we can win a premiership with and we're only about four or five pieces away from locking it in. Experience of Murphy, Curnow, Wright, Casboult, Simpson, Rowe, Jones, Thomas cannot be overstated either. Im so excited.

Dumping Jones already? He plays that way again he’s fb for 5 years

Are there different types of momentum Killers that I don't know about?
Yep....the ones that break your heart after the midfield busts their arse to get the ball to the power forward (ie Levi against bombers) and then the ones that turnover the ball constantly that costs you games (ie kerridge every second game).

I reckon we all got a bit caught up in the LJ hype. His first 6 games this year were very high standard. After that, I reckon teams figured out how to expose him a bit and his form was spotty

Sen ratings for his last 6 games: 4-4-7-4-7-2
That's real inconsistency, and 4 substandard games interspersed with two good games (plus the round 23 debacle).

I don't think you can build a defence around that sort of inconsistency, particularly if those low games feature big forwards getting off the hook and kicking big bags of goals. Better a consistent effort, or just giving a younger player experience.

That said, Weitering and Marchbank also played poorly at times this year and a veteran might be a good idea while they build confidence. Jones can still play a role if we need to protect them

If you mean Ethan Penrith, he's eligible for this year's draft. Next year's big shiny hope would be Mitchell Wild, but we've got a few who were in the Northern squad this year.

Here's a list:

Yeah Penrith's the guy.
Been watching some old games on youtube and i've been super impressed by him. Tidy disposal, great 1 on 1, super quick.
What's the knock on him? There doesn't seem to be too much chatter about the kid..

Since SOS took over the raines, over a 3 year period
2015
Pick 1. Jacob Weitering
Pick 10. Harry McKay
Pick 12. Charlie Curnow
Pick 13. Mathew Kennedy
Pick 22. David Cuningham
Pick 55. Jack Silvagni
Plus added Pick 3 2012 Plowman, Pick 19 2011 Jed Lamb

2016
Pick 6. SPS
Pick 25. Zach Fisher
Pick 48. Harrison Macreadie
Pick 60. Tom Williamson
Pick 66. Cam Polson
Pick 70. Patrick Kerr
Plus added
Pick 4 2014 Jarrod Pickett
Pick 6 2104 Caleb Marchbank

2017
Pick 3. ???
Pick 10. ???
Pick 30. ???
Plus, Pick 13 2015 Mathew Kennedy. Pick 17 2013 Darcy Lang

That is a staggering turn around, considering how far up the creek we were, SOS hasn't put a foot wrong and has manged to bring in bucket loads of young high end talent.
IMHO after the 2017 and 2018 drafts, we may have one of the best young lists in league.

Not the best disposal but is quick and tackles like his life depends on it. Moved to a fwd flank at times, could be a good pressure forward.
