No thanks. Would hate to see a young gun struck down by injury in that silly format.

Can’t help but feel all it’s going to take for clubs to put their foot down is an injury.
But is it any tougher than what they do at training? It’s supposed to be more free-flowing and fast, so I thought it wouldn’t be that bad from an injury point of view (less contact and more bruise-free). The players are going to be having plenty of tough contact in training I would think.

Melbourne should win the comp then .....

If it is fast and bruise free I am guessing knee and ankle injuries are at greater risk. Running and turning at faster speeds etc.

And contact rules don't prevent high-speed contact injuries, merely penalise them after the fact.

play 3 short with just
Wright
Shaw
Mullet
Graham
Casboult
ASOS

Edit Thomas can play as well
Wow. So let’s play the b graders ‘to protect the A graders and young players’. That’s embracing the new format..won’t the AFL be rapt with that.
I’d prefer our youngsters play. It will build up their endurance and get them used to executing their skills when going flat out.

Should be able to "draft" a seperate list for AFL X. Lucas Boekhurst Gorringe Yarran Smith DVR etc may have thrived in this comp ;)

Agreed, better off paying a couple of clubs cash to lend a couple of good players and fill the rest up with recent delistees and restirees

Yep - I really don’t care about what the AFL thinks about this meaningless and unnecessary comp.

Hughes and Rogers were years ahead of their time...:D

I would imagine all clubs now incorporate all the pre-season funny bugger formats into the official training regime. AFLX will be no different. Will be all about seeing what the young players can do and getting minutes / Kim's into them.

If they weren't playing in this format they'd still be training, so the risk of injury is about the same.

Fair enough, but I have a question: who's Kim, and what are they fitting into themselves?

I see where your coming from and it's a genuine concern. Long term if people take to it, which if it's entertaining/family orientated they will, we could end up with a cricket model. Best short term teams and long.

Being a Scorchers (best team thanks Langer)member from day dot if AflX can replicate this watch out
