I reckon the Port player with the most potential is Ah Chee. can kick a goal and likes to win the hard ball.

Probably too old at 24 years old but would be very cheap and only doesn't get a regular AFL gig due to playing a similar role to both Grey's.

In a nutshell: isn't a spud.

TA
Yep. Has been burnt by Hinkley. Supremely skilled. Can kick goals and play midfield. He's the only one I'd most seriously consider of the four you mentioned. Trengove perhaps, he has a few strings to his bow, again burnt by Hinkley. As for Young and Impey, pass.

Would you buy chocolate off this man?

Gibbs & 2018 3rd rd pick to Adelaide for #10 (Lever pick) #17
Graham & Boekhorst + #17 to WCE for L.Partington, #30 + #85
#30 to Port for J.Atley
#56 to Freo for H.Balic

Thoughts?
I don't have the most thorough list knowledge of other teams, but it sounds like a lot of b-graders and hopefuls out for a bunch of b-graders and hopefuls in. Not sure it achieves a great deal.

Not sure Adelaide would do that deal, and not sure I'd want to do that deal with West Coast. Port won't trade Atley after drafting him last year, and I'm still sketchy on paying even pick 56 for Balic.

Aydin Johnson is a handy small forward that is down the pecking order at Port. Moama boy, went pick 40ish couple of years ago and haven't heard of his resigning

Former AIS academy player who missed a lot of his draft year with injury, then followed up with hamstring issues most of last year.

Debuted against us and looked ok, then didn't play again until the final 4 games of the regular season. They're obviously happy to keep and develop him, and with his speed and kicking ability, I don't see why they would let him go right now.

A few teams will drop off in the next couple of years as we start improving rapidly. It may not even be a case of us 'being ready' to play finals. We may Bradbury it into finals earlier than expected..

West coast will be losing Mitchell, Priddis, Petrie this year with Josh Kennedy turning 31 next year and I don't see a lot of replacements waiting in the wings (pun intended). Expect a rebuild from them.

Essendon on top of losing Jobe, Kelly this year also have a 33 year old Goddard coming into next year. That's 3 of their top 10 players potentially gone after losing a final by 10 goals in 2017 with a draw this year which saw them play 7 of their last 8 games against bottom 8 sides. Still only just scraped into finals.

Hawthorn, no Hodge, Gibson and 35 year old Burgoyne and no first round draft picks. Still reckon the pain is on its way for the Hawks.

The cats are already showing the cracks, they may also possibly be without Harry Taylor on top of Lonergan and Mackie next year..

Collingwood are going nowhere.

Freo losing Michael Johnson and having a 34 year old injury prone Sandilands will hurt (6 of their 8 wins this year came with Sandi in the ruck). Mundy also 33 next year. Big question marks.

GC, big question marks.

North Melbourne, big question marks.

Can you stop making sense please. Well thought out posts with real info are frowned upon.

I rate (but still hate) Joe Daniher. Just an impossible matchup and made for the modern game. Don't think Essendon will drop out of finals unfortunately.

Kelly is nothing.
Watson was a non-factor this year
BJ Goddard is still important but I think they'll have enough coming through to replace

Tom Lamb fell down the draft order in his year because of ill discipline. IIRC got expelled from school as well.

We had 2 chances to draft him but took Boek and DVR

If he was a DFA or late trade of picks i would give him a shot....cheaper than Stringer and is a big bodied mid

Specifically remember Brad Johnston was a huge wrap for him for the time he worked with him at the AIS

Thanks for that info AB. I didn't know of the discipline issues.
He looked good early on and I have always thought that he could be a handy hf/utility type.
If the club thinks his head is in the right place atm then he should be looked at because he would have to be sick of not getting games after being in the system for 3 years on the other side of the country.
Worth a gamble I reckon with Bolton and now Bruce in the system at Carlton.

Luke Partington: 20yo midfielder was pick 28 in the 2015 draft. Possesses breakaway pace and good endurance which was evident in his draft year when he recorded a 2.96 20m sprint and a 14.1 beep at the combine. Has dominated in the WAFL as a goal kicking midfielder with his best game coming in a loss to the Swans where he had 27 possessions and kicked 4 goals. He has consistently racked up the numbers there and earned a senior call up where he has played the past 6 games of the season including the elimination final. (Out of contract)

Joe Atley: 19yo midfielder who was drafted at pick 32 in the 2016 draft. Played 3 games in his debut year with some shaky performances but its his form in the SANFL that has me liking him. A contested possession beast who thrives in the close stuff and has a huge tackle count in most games, He is especially good below his knees, picking up a hit out or loose ball with one touch and is influential when extracting by hand to his teammates, possessing the ability to release the ball quickly to advantage. He loves hitting opponents hard whether it be with a tackle or a bump and when tackled, he stands tall and is difficult to move, sometimes lifting his arms like Joel Selwood to escape the attempt.

Ayway, almost no way we could snare either of them let alone both but I would love it if we somehow managed this if GIbbs was to be traded. Both I think would compliment our side and current youth perfectly but that's just my opinion

If Kelly were to decide on Carlton (and we're obviously still keen on Kennedy) - assuming Adelaide receive #10 for Lever off the Dees which we receive for Gibbs (in addition to Doedee). Would it be as simple as:

GWS receive; #3, #10 & #38 (Carlton's 3rd Rd Pick)
Carlton receive; Kelly, Kennedy, Doedee & #29 (GWS 2nd Rd pick they acquired from StK last season).

#3 is probably unders for Kelly & #10 is overs for Kennedy hence the exchange of 2nd & 3rd Rd picks.

Hypothetically if we say trade:
3 > 7 and 8
8 > 15 and 16
7 > Stringer
15 > Kennedy

2021 best 22:

Plowman(26) jones(30) Weitering(23)
Docherty(27) Marchbank(24) Byrne(26)
Williamson(22) Cripps(26) Pickett(24)
Silvagni(23) Casboult(31) Cuningham(24)
Stringer(27) McKay(23) Curnow(24)

Kruezer (31) SPS (23) Kennedy(24)

Fisher(23) Gibbs(32) Lamb(29) Polson(23)

That side to me looks a lot better than Richmonds right now..

If Casboult is still in our best 22 by 2021 then we may as well flush the rebuild process now
