There are two parts to that answer. a. Yes. b. It's somewhat obvious that we would be.

Mids now and the final piece of the puzzle at the end of the 66/88 re-build.

Lynch would allow Charlie to go to mid. So Mid for next 10 years would be Charlie, SPS, Cripps and probably Hopper (Kelly would be hard to get if we have lynch as well)

How good is 2Plank's credibility and info?

Two Planks does not post bullshit nor does he have any reason to do so on our board.

We've been into Tom Lynch ever since SOS came on board.

He's one of two free agents I am convinced we'll get. The other is Dylan Shiel.

Maybe they know and want to keep it on the down low!!!

MS3/Barass, one of them did say expect something out of left field...though I'll be pissed if we blow 1.6mill AND draft picks to get him this year.

As a course of negotiations on the CBA, did they come to an agreement unrestricted FA eligibility would be lowered?

Can't see GC not matching if he's restricted next year

Imo that 3 way trade compounds the load already on Cripps with Gibbs going out we will need atleast 2 mainly inside/outside players to replace him and adequately support Cripps . Kelly and Hopper would certainly tend to that but a big ask getting 1 let alone both . Gaff is purely outside . Think ahead Cripps gets injured no Gibbs and we dont get Kelly or Hopper . Gaff certainly no value in that scenario .
I think we'd only do it if we get either / both Kelly or Hopper first.

This Lynch talk does not excite me at all. I'm actually hoping it's not true

Why would that be?

We have two drafts/trade periods and a lot may yet depend on what is achieved this year.
In the meantime, we'll have to keep a close eye as to how our recent draftees are coming along.
It's not out of the question we could be in a ready-to-launch position at the end of the 2018 season.......so why not launch?

Stars dont go through FA, look at Dangerfield and co. Theres better value in it in regards to trading.

Would we give up pick 1/2 for Lynch? probably not, but thats not my call to make :)

Edit: are we targeting him this year, or next?

I don't disagree, hence why I asked if the unrestricted FA eligibility was being lowered after recent CBA

Even though we repeatedly borked up many drafts after laying the foundations on our last rebuild it's incredibly important that we continue to do so. Forking out excellent draft picks and mega dollars does not build depth in your list.

Need to use free agency properly and still go to the draft with picks earlier than third rounders consistently, it's the only way to build the depth needed

$1.6m? That's a stretch. If we're talking 2019 onwards, that's $1.25m in terms of today's cap values.

He'd be close to, if not the highest paid player in the game.

One of the proposed free agency mechanisms was becoming a restricted free agent after 4 years if you're paid under the median wage, which is not the case for Lynch.

I doubt WC will trade Shuey, given their weakest area is the midfild and that he just signed an extention

As for Gaff, WC could be open to a trade, depending what they could get for him before he is a RFA at the end of next year.

No reason why we shouldn't shake the tree at GC, but i would be surprised if Lynch was the target this year, rather than next

I'm happy to over pay for a player but $1.6mil is a joke. Also the GC are going to be pissed off so I imagine we will still have to trade.

I don't think they can afford to lose either of them with Priddis & Mitchell retiring this year.

But why would they.

He just signed a 4 year contract extension until 2022 in June.
