No way is Gibbs worth more than Lever. One has 200 games ahead of him.

McGovern I don't know too much about but certainly wouldn't attract West Coast's first rounder.
I wasn't directly comparing lever and gibbs' worth. more trying to make the point that Adelaide might be very active in the trade period and could have a swag of picks to play around with, depending on how bad they want/need Gibbs.

HSun reporting that if cas leaves, we'll get pick 18 in return. Pretty handy return albeit we'd be light up top if we can't lure redpath away. The article also indicates that cas has taken more marks, kicked more goals and won more HOs than Reid in the last 3 years. Puts the criticism into perspective although he cost us against the scum

Pull the ****ing trigger if this is the case.

Ok so here's my latest:

If Lions win 2 games and we finish bottom

We keep Pick 1 and draft best young kid
We offer GWS our round 1 pick from 2018 for Hopper
We keep Gibbs
We walk Kelly to pre season draft and grab him with pick 1

Our midfield next year Cripps Kelly Gibbs Hopper Murphy SPS Cuningham Fisher & 2017 no 1 draft pick.

2018 first for Hopper? No thanks. It's a likely top 5 pick and trading future firsts is fraught with danger. A few injuries to key players will see us struggle to win games next year. Our improvement for next year is hard to guage.

PSD stuff is just fanciful.

Another article in the copy of Inside Football that I picked up in Melbourne was "Dominant Duo Set For Draft" by Chris Pike writing about the WAFL.

He then named Tim Kelly & Haiden Schloithe from South Fremantle as 'prime examples of the potential advantages of raising the draft age'. Sloithe is 23yo and is averaging 30.7 disposals per game whilst Kelly is at 28.2, both are strong chances in the Sandover too.

I'm sure there are better judges at our club to know if they are worth bringing onto the playing list but based on the raw figures, they seem like they are well suited.

In regards to Gibbs:

The Crows according to reports are paying 100% of the cap, hence the reason they supposedly offered pathetic contracts to Lever and Gov. Meaning that one or both will have to be traded for them to make a play for Gibbs. Cameron might come in to play here too.

Will they be asking us to pay his contract? If yes, like last year the cost is 2 X 1st round picks.

Can you imagine trading out, young, exciting players and bringing in a guy who is 29.

I don't like the idea of giving away 2 * first round picks (especially since one will likely be pick 1 or 2 and the second is still going to be a very high end pick as well). That looks overs to me for Kelly and Hopper, especially with Casboult compo thrown in. I'm not sure we can afford to take ourselves out of the draft for 2 consecutive years.

Only thing is if we nabbed both Kelly and Hopper and Gibbs stayed no way we are finishing too low next year .
So more like pick 1/2 pick 8-10 and levi compo pick 18-20 . Still overs though .

Yeah, we would be improvers next year no doubt. The thing is, if Kelly went to the Saints and they gave GWS their 2 first rounders, there is every chance that GWS would be happy to trade the Saints picks say 7 & 10 for our pick 1 (and that's discounting the fact that Saints may well get back a 2nd rounder). We are basically being penalised for the fact we hold a very high end pick.

2018 first rounder shouldn't come into the equation unless there is more.

Replace each first round pick with each player and it makes sense.

Sure, we could go for the mystery box in the draft, but this way, our reset is fast-tracked with young guns (or up-and-comers) with a couple of years in the gym and in an AFL environment under their belts already.

Don't like giving away the Cas pick, but if it turns out to be a third rounder, I'm fine.

Two guaranteed 10+ year A-graders/elite (1 already top 5 in the comp) for 2 first rounders and a late first/early second.... and we keep Gibbs? That isn't overs, that's realistic.
Wouldnt say Hopper or Whitfield are guaranteed A graders but yeah its not that far away i suppose and we do have a pressing need :thumbsu:

You think ?

Imagine Whitfield, Hopper and Kelly in the middle with Gibbs and Murphy alongside the Cunninghams, Seton et al...

Thats midfield fixed in one swoop !
It's only for two of the three, not all of them. If it was for all three I'd be stoked with that trade. But it's not and it's overs IMO.

Please tell me that this is for all 3 of them?

If it's just for Kelly and 1 of Hopper/Whitfield then we are getting reamed big time

That's the thing. Hopper is no guarantee and has an extensive injury history. He is the guy I hope we get the most, partly because his price should be cheaper. GWS fans seem to think that he is worth a late first round pick, I don't see why our 2018 first rounder should come into it (unless we got all three).
