Not sure I'm understanding

Didn't it all go pretty well? North Korea stuff had no impact, pollution issue was overblown, surface was fine and didn't cause problems, they won the game, 11 day break afterwards. AFL is happy and the game will be continuing. They've picked up some new sponsors.

Why are they suddenly being negative about it? Why now? They spent the whole lead up being ultra positive and berating others for being negative.
They just realised the sponsorship was quoted in yuan rather than aud... ;)

because they probably realised their "grass roots" "club" is nothing but a Corporate whore of the highest order.

Gone. No player that stays does this sort of shit

This is pathetic. Two weeks leave to weigh up football future: pfft! He should be forced to play for the seconds for the rest of the year. It's a bit early to be a prima donna. It sets a bad precedent. I agree with those who think high draftees should have a longer first contract. Brisbane are being soft.

Should be forced to take leave without pay for the two weeks.

Given the immense pulling power of the Vic clubs towards players coming out of contract (whether it's homesickness or the lucrative off field opportunities), do all non-Vic clubs need a retention bonus?

Brisbane are better off without players like him. 4 touches in the NEAFL after being dropped is an absolute disgrace for an AFL quality player. The Lions recruited him thinking he wanted to play at Brisbane (given his Dad played up there), and now he leaves 2 years later? At best will end up at a Jesse White level, appears to have a terrible attitude.

Shit getting real on port board

"It should be our Chairman explaining this sort of stuff, not me. But, as I suggested earlier, if it's not his idea it doesn't seem to qualify. This is not the first time I have felt that his real agenda is Koch first Club second."

Just added my name to the list. Get onboard everyone!

I hope he makes White look like a superstar.

AFL need to introduce a like for like trading system if a player goes in his 1st 2 years. The club he goes to must be granted the same pick he was taken at and it's up to the destination club to trade for it

Make him play ruck of full back for the rest of the year...see you later Josh, thanks for nothing

I wonder if people here would hold similar opinions if young Josh said he wanted to come to Adelaide......

Not that I agree with his standing, I certainly don't.

Because it's been over a week and there hasn't been a multi billion dollar deal announced.

His 4 touches after being dropped was a form of dummy spit.

Players being prima donnas is becoming more and more of an issue, with free agency, pushing for even more free agency, and 'trade me to club X' mid-contract dummy spits.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, AFL players these days are getting too spoilt. The culture of loyalty and playing for your mates is fading. It's being replaced with a mercenary culture that the players learn from fawning over overseas stars whose paycheques are big and their egos bigger still.

Always good to have an opposite view. I would hope he had the conviction to keep playing and playing at 100%. To me that's about character.

I would be ok with Schache but would always have that question in the back of my mind

Even Gunston had the grace to at least play out the season and win our best first year player award (until Triggy swooped into action and took it off him)

See my post above.

I don't mind if a player does so and mindful of the possibility of the AFC attracting someone for money. But I would like to see the character of the person. I admire PD for the 100% he gave the AFC in the last year. That will always hold him in good with me, similar to Phil Davis. He was upfront and it was only the coach that stopped him giving

Don't turn up for the money and not turn up for the game

I know this is not footy....but it was debated in a footy discussion (Danger thread).

Roger Moore (RIP) was a better Bond than Daniel Craig. Although I blame the producers, not the acting!!

As you were!!
the decision to reboot the series and run with the "Bond is just a codename" idea has ruined the series.

He did bust his gut for us, even though he'd planned to leave.

This is exactly where clubs need the right to trade players wherever they clubs want. I know the kid will be out of contract but there has to be some sort of threat over their heads. First up 4 years for a first time draftee, if he wants out in that time, the club trades him to the best offer.
