I don't think you read it properly.

How it works right now is that Schache can say to Brisbane that he wants to only be traded to Carlton which limits Brisbane's trading power.

What I am proposing that players can only put a contract length and price on their head and are unable to nominate a destination club. So in Schache's case if he nominates to be traded then he could potentially end up anywhere.

Lets say that he puts a price on his head of $450k for five years, then basically any club that is prepared to give that deal to Schache will be able to negotiate with Brisbane and Brisbane can then choose whatever deal is best for them.
