Exactly what St Kilda, Footscray and Fitzroy supporters said about us then ...

What they failed to appreciate is that the SANFL saved the struggling VFL teams when we paid for the AFL license.

Mind you, Fitzroy RIP.

Over on the other board they are talking trade options, maybe just a tad overvalued!

Lobbe - pick 88

Neade - pick 40

Hartlett - 17-24

Young - 23-33

impey - 16-27

Let me just correct those for Port:

Lobbe - Pick 324
Neade - Pick 85
Hartlett - Pick 48 (even less if the club trading him in is paying any of his inflated salary)
Young - Pick 67
Impey - Pick 52

You didn't see a lot of Akermanis' obviously, apart from being a total d1ckhead on and off the field he is one of the silkiest skilled players to ever play the game. Absolute champion of the game.
Saw his qhole career, from starting in the back pocket at the Lions.

I also saw Burgoyne close up. It's no coincidence he pmayed in 4 (or 5) flags

And to think what Port could have got for Lobbe and Hartlett over the last couple of years, but instead signed them up on long term way overpriced contracts.

Who has got access to the article and can post the bit where he nails Gray for staging.

Good to see Gray and Wingard copping the scrutiny they deserve.

4. ROBBIE GRAY ACTING.

We accept Ken Hinkley’s explanation that his champion forward is not injured, but it is difficult to accept Gray playing for free kicks. It’s as though the umpire has become equally as important as the football as Gray tries to win the ball. He throws his arms in the air too often and flops forward when tackled. At one stage in the second quarter on Saturday night he chose to appeal to the umpire for a free kick and not chase the ball. Gray played too cute when all he had to do was play the ball. Gray kicked three goals from 14 disposals, but they were junk goals from a junk performance.

Also gives praise to Dougie for his performance.

Impey is the only one holding his value of being somewhere around a 2nd round pick. Hartlett is around the mark but the rest wouldnt hold any trade value. Young is over rated. Id rather Mackay.

I just had to look after I heard Carlton did GWS.
Stats wise the one that stood out to me was Carlton only used 61 interchanges of 90. How many were we making a few years ago 120+ or something.
Has the game slowed down? I don't think so.

The average supporter didn't really care. It's not like the AFC saved anyone on its own. All they saw is a bunch of interstate clubs getting gifted start up concessions and win multiple flags, more than they had won in an 100 years.

Alex Silvagni got injured very early

No one is giving a second rounder for Impey

Or either of Dixon has a shot to win and forgets about the clock or Westhoff has a shot from 35 and instead of having a shot passes it and the siren goes.
Or whingegard has a chance to run onto the ball and kick the winning goal but falls over with on one around playing for a free

They could have had Matt Crouch instead they chose someone that can run rooly, rooly, rooly fast...
