4. ROBBIE GRAY ACTING.

We accept Ken Hinkley’s explanation that his champion forward is not injured, but it is difficult to accept Gray playing for free kicks. It’s as though the umpire has become equally as important as the football as Gray tries to win the ball. He throws his arms in the air too often and flops forward when tackled. At one stage in the second quarter on Saturday night he chose to appeal to the umpire for a free kick and not chase the ball. Gray played too cute when all he had to do was play the ball. Gray kicked three goals from 14 disposals, but they were junk goals from a junk performance.
#theportadelaideway

I saw that and thought WTF are you doing? It was in the Pear forward line close to goal and the idiot stopped chasing the bloke with the ball and turned with both hands outstretched appealing to the ump for a free. Clown act.

Im surprised this is not highlighted by the media in SA as missed opportunity.

Port had a free hit at Mrouch first up and instead chose an Impey.
Does Port ever get hit for missed draftees? Feel like they have been dining out on Ollie Wines now for a few years. Seems like the Crows are the only ones who get attacked for missing anyone

"fruit" ........
Bahahahahahaha
That board is comedy central this week .......
I've lost my faith in Ken Hinkley

2 years to the day and this thread is still going strongly.
Concerning :(

******* sick of Hinkley being a nice guy about absolutely ******* everything. Even apologises for the fans who booed Ryder, **** sake Ken - say what everyone else is thinking. That ******* club put him and 34 other young men through hell, used them as pin cushions. Ryder left, fearing his and his children's health- and he cops it from those 'stand by hird' campaigners?
Just ******* STAND UP ONCE KEN

He has zero fire left in the belly. Motions. He is going through them.

Any lingering hope I have that we might be successful under Hinkley will be extinguished on Thursday night if adequate changes aren't made.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hinkley leaves on his own accord at the end of this contract.
He has said numerous times through the years the job just is far too all consuming for him and he has had trouble balancing work life commitments due to it. I think he is stressed/worn out and isn't looking to sign another long term contract.

*There was some comments with the same common theme I read on there that attributed one particular reason to why Ken is having challenges.

I wont comment out of respect for the AFC.

They must be looking forward to telling Westhoff, Sam Gray, Krakouer, Ah Chee and Young to **** off.

In an enviable position having 5 spuds all coming out of contract at once. I'm a bit jealous.

At times, all of those players are best 22. Who replaces them? Some random spuds in the reserves?

The only ones I'd sign would be Hombsch, Bonner and Snelling

They used a first rounder on Impey.
Pick 21, was 2nd round pick. While we use picked 23 on Matt Crouch :D
Pick 21 from GWS (2nd round pick) , Port traded 14 and 34 for Polec, 21 and 45 - Brisbane 22, 34 and 48 for Polec, 29 and 45, GWS 14, 29 for 21,22 and 48.

So basically Port swapped 14 and 34 for Polec and Impey, In a Draft that netted Cam MaCarthy 14, Zac Jones 15 and Nick Roberson 34, with Nankervis going at 35,
So anyone criticises the Crows should haves could haves need to look at how other clubs fared.

oh...but but .....Port Board version....
I will comment on this. Right in front of my line of sight. Free kick SO obvious, at least from my angle, ball well, well too far for gray to chase. Maybe TV doesn't show the angle right. I'm not a defender. I'd trade gray while he has 1St round currency and I'd give wingers a spray for leaning into his MaN get cheap ball over the top too often But some frees are so obvious you Just know

Doesn't matter. Rather invest in some Spud kids who might get better than Spud seniors who you know are never going to get any better.

Damn shame for them they wasted their recent picks on Polec and Dixon. Ryder I am actually starting to like as a player. That trade might pay off.

But who do you replace them with?

Do Port even "organic growth "?

No way they will get rid of Wasteof while Ken is there. It's his only coaching move. Wasteof to defence as loose man. If Ken doesn't have that move he might as well take off his McDonald's drive thru headset when coaching and go sit in the stands.

Ports failure to develop their players is astounding.

The ability of so many players ie Hartlett, Wingard, Lobbe, Butcher, Neade, Impey, Gray etc. to stagnate or regress after two years on the list is horrific. It's why they're so reliant on trading in

Geoffa called that 5 years ago - Trengove being his main example. Even Pre Hinkley

Kane the Failed Firey on radio now saying Port will struggle to make 8 - "some people were saying top 4 " - what - people like YOU Kornes you complete flog!
How he can have the front to say shit like this astounds me !

The AFC poaching Alan Stewart was the sliding doors moment there for both clubs.

Since then our blokes have consistently got the most out of their ability (even those limited like Petrenko Wright etc.). Port hasn't developed a player internally since

Tim Watson "it was a stroke of genius for Bucks to play Howe down back"

Memo to Tim

The Demons played Howe down back for the majority of his career at that club, Buckley promised Howe that if he moved to Collingwood he would play as a forward, Howe now playing as a defender is going back to where Melb thought his best role was for the team

Great call. All we hear about is how good Dixon is and Ryder is a great inclusion. Nothing about Boak being really inconsistent, Whingegard going backwards and that Wastehoff has lost his ability on his beard
