Yeah I was.

Polec is out for 2-3 games and they will miss his run and line breaking badly.

Pies - Grundy will match Ryder so they lose a big advantage there. Pies midfield will smash them.

Richmond- they are a decent top 8 side, they also play a style that will trouble Port. Again strong midfield and no Polec.

WC - beaten easily
North - win
Melb - no chance
Saints - win but you never know
Crows- if we don't win I'd be shocked
Pies - win but you never know, Pies travel well
Bulldogs - lose. They should have their shit together by then
Gold Coast - win

They aren't that good.
They have 3 tricky home games.
They play top 8 teams and teams fighting for a spot who are decent.
They have haven't beaten anyone above 11th!
They aren't that good.
They have one injury and Neade made their side, Toumpas the week before. Now they lose Polec and they'll bring back Pittard who is average.
Their form since half way through Hawks game has been average.
They aren't that good.

I can really see them imploding. Hopefully I'm right :)

Bulldogs are shot. Doubt they are making the 8 this season.

Parents got a free copy of the Australian on their flight from Melbourne. Article about Pittard in there, but the journo claims to have seen confidential documents relating to Port's salary cap. Highlights:

1. He's likely off to Essendon
2. Port are paying 50% of the new salary cap (over $7m) to 9 players
3. Gray earns over $1m
4. Dixon, Wingard, Wines, Boak, Ryder, Hartlett and Lobbe all earn over $700K/year, with Boak close to Gray
5. Lobbe is the highest-paid seconds player in the AFL (except when Tippett is in the 2s)
6. Trengove may also leave

This would probably be true if these players all had clauses where their contract would rise in line with the increased cap.

I could pretty easily see a player like Wines being on $600k with that increasing to $700k under the new cap. Dixon, Boak, Ryder and Gray I'd all assume were on good coin like that, probably Wingard as well. Find it hard to believe they'd actually give $600k+ contracts to Hartlett and Lobbe though.

That said, when you look across their current best 22, there's a lot of mediocre low-money plodders, so it could be true. But they would probably also have to give Hombsch, Polec, Ebert, Westhoff, Trengove, Broadbent and Pittard all decent money too.

Some stats for the Port Power trolls visiting our board & why your club is devaluing your brand by giving away its product.

Crows have had 1 sub 40k crowd since the AO redevelopment, 38K last year against North on the Thursday night thunderstorm & hail night.
Port have now had 4 sub 40K crowds this season, after only 6 home games.
Last nights 31,772 is the second lowest crowd at AO since the redevelopment. They have now had 16 sub 40K crowds since redevelopment, interestingly the Port Powers only 4 crowds larger than 49,500 were 3 in 2014 and 1 in 2015, none since.

This year Port have lost to teams currently ranked 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 and have beaten teams 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 18.

Imo, there are some elements of truth to this article. I doubt all the salaries are this high, but not far off the mark.

Port were paying near 105% of the salary cap & hence were were trying to trade Hartlett & Lobbe... As well as trying to have Ryder & Monfries salaries temporarily removed.

They do have some serious structural issues that won't disappear for a few years, given the long term deals.

There is a good chance they will loses 1 of their free agents when renegotiating their new deal...though a big rise in the salary cap may ease the issue.

They won't be signing any big name players in a hurry...

There's 4 absolute certainties. North. Brisbane. Hawks. Gold Coast

But then add Carlton, West Coast in Melbourne. There's 6.

Port at Eureka. 7.

And if they are getting some form, I'll take them to beat GWS say Etihad. 8.

9th win is against Essendon at Etihad. That's a flip of the coin.
Can't see the Bulldogs in their current form going 9-1. I still had them in the top 4 before yesterday, but had them beating the Dees. I think the Dees will now take 4th, with the Bullies now falling to the bottom of the top 8... though if they play more like yesterday, they will miss altogether.

Arsenal to appoint Liverpool's former head of fitness as new director of high performance - The Telegraph

Huh no mention of port power - "and they will......"

I find it hard to believe on the international stage arsenal could be more popular than port power. Are they including the 1.5 billion Chinese?

Are you saying he wouldn't be as effective today?

Who knows, coaches would be on him about defensive pressure though !!!

A guy that good would find a way

Does anyone else think Pittard is being pushed out because of Port's salary cap issues? They can't get rid of Lobbe, Hartlett or Book (no one would want them) so an out of contract player needs to be sacrificed.

They also don't currently have a first round pick this year, so losing him to FA could get them an end of first round pick.

That's exactly what's happening.

Plus he's not that good.
