I hardly ever go to other teams boards but with the bye and ports loss ha ha. I have been to the Paps and the Cats boards. Stark contrast. Geelong are complete and utter doom and gloom with virtually no one giving themselves a hope.
Port Adelaide still think there in with a chance.
The delusion over there is staggering.
In with a chance for what?

Lol...the way he's bobbing up and down....looks like he's barracking and shitting himself at the same time...talk about living on the edge!

I went nuts at the showdown last year when the final siren went!
Saw a bit of the Footy Show clips on Twitter.

Congratulations Richmond FC - 2017 Premiers.

I really hope we can break their hearts in a GF - the reaction from the Victorian media would be priceless !
Sydney might counter that though unfortunately.

Lol Damien Barrett Stringer preferably wants to go to Geelong
Eddie says well they can't have Ablett then.
Barrett thinks they'll do it.

Can't wait to see all these magical trades done with no picks or good players wanting to leave.

From what I've heard, he allegedly tested positive at least once this year to recreational substances.
The silence from the AFL over Chris Yarran seems to be particularly disturbing. If they truly want the best for the players, and speaking of where are the AFLPA in all of this? Surely they would also have the players best interests at heart.

If both parties want the best then a medical program , especially if the results show an amphetamine, should be 1st order of business. Its all about image for the AFL and the AFLPA seem to be about free dinners

When reading the posts on the Port board, it feels like they haven't quite comprehended that they aren't that good and were never going anywhere this year and may go backwards with a tougher draw next year. Well more than one believe, they should have finished top 2.

Silence from both is deafening on this, also wonder how complicit in all of this Carlton were too.

Saw that article by Twomey that was mentioned here that had a massive swipe at Essendon. Haven't won a final since 2004. Would never have guessed that if asked. That is a very long time. And now rumoured that they are into Aaron Hall in a big way. Wouldn't have thought that he fits a need for them in the slightest. Good player, but you wouldn't think he would come cheap. And will Essendon finally commit to bringing in players by trading for them ??

Aaron Hall?? We'll have him if he wants out. Is Charlie open to going to either Qld club?

That's what I want to know as well, how on earth are Geelong supposed to trade for these players when they only have their 2018 first rounder and they supposedly promised the AFL that they would trade in another first round pick by the end of 2018.

You watch the AFL sweep Geelong's trading mess under the carpet by handing them first round compo picks for Menzel and Motlop.

AFL will award the Cats Infinite Priority First Rounders Picks to get them all the players they want and need till they get that flag for Danger to shove up his arse.

Nooooooo!!!

Quite the opposite. No.2's are often no.2 for a reason

Agree.

Before Buckley re-signed, I can remember a Craig Kelly interview where he discussed the enormous step up from going from an assistant to a head AFL coach. One example was how assistants would be easily able to organise social events like dinners with players; and it was highlighted that with the head coach job there are so many more things required and consequently less time available to spend getting to know the playing group.

It made me think about some recently promoted assistants with "relationship building" as a strength - Sando who was criticised for not being in touch with our younger players, and Hinkley. With the added head coach duties, I do have to wonder if they were really able to use that particular strengths to their fullest. It also made me have a greater appreciation of what Phil Walsh did in his brief time with us, as he had been known to get in touch with all his players on a daily basis.

Leigh Matthews talked a lot in his biography about how he needed Gubby Allen by his side.

Gubby was a great people person and would do all the soft stuff, arms around the shoulder stuff. A real glue guy

Allowed Matthews to be the boss the disciplinarian, and if he went too far, then Gubby would put them back together

Real good cop bad cop, and as Matthews said he wasn't real good with all the relationship building stuff

Does the fact he needed Gubby make him less of a no.1? I say it makes him more, he knows his limitations and welcomes the support

It was always a Claytons Drug Policy, it was more about them seemingly making a strong stance publicly, collecting the data, protecting the game (and pet players) and burning the odd patsy publicly.
