How long do you think he has left? Does Selwood go through injury or poor form?

Got to laugh at those predicting his imminent demise because he finally got a serious injury and probably came back a bit too early.
He looked it to be tailing off before the injury.
In the game against us he battled to keep up. I think at one point he was mercifully sent to Jobe so the running could be limited.

If im honest, i reckon he has this year and a possibility for one more depending on how the body goes and if he keeps his head away from any major hits. Otherwise i reckon he's facing a Jono Brown question on how long he can keep putting his body on the line.
Retiring at 30 with 3 (and maybe 4) flags to your name is a stellar career. At some point, needs to start thinking about his post-football life.

Go back and watch his first half a dozen games - career best form.

WTF
North Melb ( picks 23 & rest )

Walker went at around his rating and Kyron Hayden (62) could end up being a great pick up. In 2014 he won the WA State 15s MVP, was named All-Australian and was runner up to Luke Davies-Uniacke for the J.L. Williams Medal (the award given to the fairest and best player at the National 15s Schoolboys Championships). The kid missed virtually all of 2016 with OP then bounced back with strong performances in the W.A. colts and reserves this season. He smashed Natanui leap record at the combine. The kid is a bull, check out his highlights tape:

Xerri seems a nice type as a project ruck, and Hartung was a spec pick in the 70's.

Walker raised my eye, but apparently he absolutely blitzed the TAC cup finals. I'm very happy with our lot.

3 mids then a project ruck and Hartung to add some pace?? I am happy with what we did last night.

Fair enough you guys know your list better .
I was expecting Constable's name to be read out at pick 23 .
Not sure you needed another ruckman ?
Anyways good luck :thumbsu:

they were good. ill admit that. he was in ripper form and probably got his AA on the back of them.
My point is his style of play will start to take it out of him more and more. I wonder how sustainable that is at 30+
Speaking from experience, the body starts to forgive less and its springs up on you. And ive nowhere near the pummelling Joel has over the years.

Anyways, to stay on topic, i reckon Constable was a steal and he will get some good time with Joel to learn the craft and take the crown from him.

Goldstein is getting on (29), Preuss is the heir apparent, and Daw would have probably been cut this year if he didn't have a contract.

We definitely needed to get another ruck on the books.

One dilemma with there selections, three inside midfielders and a project ruck. They are quite literally the only things that North Melbourne are well stocked in.

LDU was best available, Walker is great, kudo's to them, but surely Noah Balta would have been a better fit? at 62, surely a kid like Schumacher would have fit better than yet another inside midfielder in Hayden?

Anyways, good luck to Norf. They know what they are doing

I thought we were always going for a ruck - Goldy turns 30 and looks on the way out, Daw is no good so that just leaves Pruess. Most rucks take years to be AFL ready. By the time Xerri is ready it will be only Pruess on our list IMO.

Not sure why you're trolling.

Hartung gives us out side run and Walker is quick. I posted above about why I think we went for a ruck.

Agree that Cerra looked noticably disappointed. Good chance he'll be at North, Carlton or Hawthorn in 2 years time imo
Yep ... understandable tho ,it must be soooooo tough for your young vic kids getting drafted in the top 10 in the AFL,for however will he cope!?,I mean how dare Fremantle wrench him from his Rightful place in Melbourne!!

Billy certainly can run but running away from any sort of physical contact is his problem.

Isnt Goldie contracted for another 2 years , Daw just been given a new No1 jumper so thats a sign he is staying . Preuss is your starting ruck , im guessing.

Pick 77.

How did you rate his 32 disposal game v Carlton in round 23?

Isnt Goldie contracted for another 2 years

Yes. This takes him to 31.

Daw just been given a new No1 jumper so thats a sign he is staying .

The most cursed number in the clubs history. Majak is just a list filler and the face of the clubs "Hub" program. Unless he shows something out of the blue, I expect he will get paid out at the end of next season.

Quiet year for us, :( still trying to come to grips with no picks in the top 10.
We wanted as little as little change as possible this year, but ended up with a fair bit ofchange. Retirements and cap management mostly, except Wilson. Just have to wait and see how our draftees go.

It’s interesting because of their 4 picks the only one I didn’t particularly like was Constable, but it’s hard to argue with production and if their forward half stays healthy they’ll go alright.

What happens if the AFL change FA eligibility to 6 years ;)

I’m only a mug draft watcher, but I had 3 and a 1/2 sure bets in this draft (Stephenson was the half because I have no idea who to believe with his heart and I’m still not convinced). Freo getting two of them for now is noteworthy, IMO.
Curious on the 3rd (as you've mentioned the half and obviously Brayshaw & Cerra are two given the Freo ref). Guessing Rayner and that you have queries on Dow & LDU?

Think then post. We have four inside mids Cunnington (27 next year), Ziebell (the same and probably better utilised up forward), Dumont (he' just OK) and Jacobs (a rolled ankle from retirement and better suited tagging). McDonald, Mountford, Clarke, Simpkin etc will all run through but none are suited to winning a buttload of clearances.
We've lost Swallow, Greenwood and Bastinac in the past three years. Mids are our #1 concern. Players that can kick our second IMO.

This takes the cake IMO

Carlton backed themselves in and picked the player they wanted most, 21-year-old Blaine Boekhorst from Swan Districts, at pick 19. The Blues' decision was the talk of the night, given the junior talent still available at that point. It was a gutsy call – Boekhorst would likely have made it to their second pick at 28 – but they picked Dillon Viojo-Rainbow there for a pretty good price, so got two players they really liked rather than risk missing one. What's interesting and what can only be assessed in time is how the Blues' decision to slide from pick 7 to pick 19 during the trade period plays out. Whether the club rated Peter Wright, who knows, but he was the key forward they would have had access to had they not opted instead for Kristian Jaksch, Mark Whiley and Boekhorst, who will bring the sort of run they need. Clem Smith was a steal at pick 60, and and Jayden Foster kicked more goals than anyone in the TAC Cup this year.

Fake news.

We didn't bomb out in the 2014 draft. We still have Pickett, Marchbank and Garlett. ;)

Its North Melbourne's fault for not developing the consistent flow of B - grade midfielders they have drafted into A - grade AFL players.

Probably right that you guys just cut all the fat (list cloggers) from the list. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing, would have thought you would have spread the list demographic a tad more.

How is LDU purely an inside mid when he averages less clearances than Cerra and Dow, but the second most amount of I50 of the top 5? Yet ran the quickest 20m time.

Odd grouping for an inside mid.
