It's fine to argue a point but not when you start putting words in people's mouths that they never said. At no point has anyone said we're a top 8 defence nor has anyone said Gardiner is the next Josh Gibson. Cut the bullshit
Is that bullying??? Think it was .... Hmmm I suggest you go right back and read all my posts and responses, before judging me. it's a forum and I can say what I'd like to FatCat!

How would you know???
I actually do know a bit Len, I actually watch a lot of football and look forward to watching Darcy Gardiner develop, he's currently our only hope as a 3rd tall, if you don't think we need to upgrade that's your opinion, thumbs up to you

I'm thinking not.

You're assuming McVeigh can get on the park,he missed plenty this year, and his form in recent years has been inconsistent, he is slowing appreciably.
If not McVeigh, someone like McVeigh. I used McVeigh as an example. Just on mc beige it's Not very often a player like McVeigh whose a free agent has been told he's not getting a contract, forget his age he is still flying and is a smart individual who may have coaching aspirations, why wouldn't we have a crack? If it helps this young talent through for a year or two could be big bonus.

Anyone on here who thinks our backline is a top 8 backline is off head, Andrews Witherden and maybe McStay can be in a top 8 backline. Daniel Rich is a great kick but his defensive running and positioning not great, he's playing out of position. Sam Mayes is run of the mill and perhaps playing out of position. Gardiner has taken 60 games to have his best game and people on here are thinking he's the next josh Gibson. We have some other young talent like Allison and Cox who could be future top grade players, but as of right now we
desperately need an A grade talent to Marshall the troops down back. Ie McVeigh even if it's only for two years.

Yep..Lynchy was interested in getting McVeigh..Although there are a few retiring defenders that would have buddy-clubby relationship with our present coaching group..So it wont be the least bit surprising if one extended their career as an on-field coach...

I don't know, I accidentally infracted Haso after a few drinks on a Saturday night. That was almost worth the irritation of the rest of the trade period.

I got that over and done with very early in my modship. I obviously peaked too early.

Actually Fatcat08 is exactly one of those who explains why certain posting styles aren't appreciated on this forum.

Making claims as to what other posters have said when it's simply not true just so you can argue against those claims is one such example of a style that doesn't contribute to the forum and is just used by posters who aren't willing to engage in healthy discussion on its own merits.

If I said you've been claiming Gardiner never gets a kick (which you haven't) and then posted his disposal totals as a "rebuttal" I suspect you'd get your knickers in a knot over it.

If you want to just make posts without worrying about what people might respond or if they have different opinions there's always Facebook and Twitter.

Over it all already, won't Bother dropping in any real behind the scenes news, any actual player analysis, etc, etc got better things to do with my time than worry bout this. Total waste of time. Fat Cat runs the show here from his couch. "On the couch with FatCat"

Geez, i must be off my head because i think our back6-8 is the strength of our time. Andrews, McStay and Gardiner are gelling beautifully as our key defenders with Darcy playing the zoning role well. Robertson is the hard edged and hard running defender. Sam Mayes has really developed his 1 on 1 game and is hard to beat as well as improving his disposal in transition. Witherden and Rich give us class with the ball and soon Cedric Cox will give us dash we have not seen at the gabba since Aker.

Our midfield is a concern, it is older and we don't have great 2 way running ability. This will be addressed at this draft. Our forward line is a work in progress and I am positive we will be hunting that hybrid mid/forward type either through a trade or in the draft.

Calm down Lions Lions.......there is nothing wrong with a little heated debate. It just needs to be done in a respectful way without being offensive. I enjoy reading your posts and would be disappointed if posters like yourself stopped providing up with your thoughts & incite into the happenings around the club. All good from me. :thumbsu:

Doesn't take someone with insider connections to know we need experience in the backline. Problem is who is available, quality and affordable and willing to come up here?
Hit the nail on the head CarterS. There are some players that kinda fit that criteria. (3 or 4) They will be talked about over the next few weeks I am sure.

I second what FWG posted above. Don't go, all opinions welcome, I disagreed with your Darcy Gardiner views but I hope I did it in a respectful manner.

No need to take disagreements personally unless the comments were overly personal and IIRC they weren't.

He's coming along nicely IMO.

It looked to me when Leppa was in charge that he was trying to turn him into nothing more than a spoiler /pure defensive lock down type of player.

He's shown a lot more creativity under Fages without compromising his defensive role.

Sure he's got flaws as do all of our promising youngsters but that's no reason to label him as "only ordinary" or whatever.

A) no you can't say whatever you want in a forum both online or in person hence the presence of moderation

B) I actually did read all you posts and had absolutely no issue with you expressing your opinion on Gardiner even if I disagree with some of it and find other parts valid. That is borne out by the fact I didn't comment on any of you other posts on the subject. However I'm absolutely within my rights as another poster on this forum to object to someone posting something that isn't an opinion but a bold faced lie and completely made up

I suggest you have a think about the difference between the two.

This post perfectly illustrates that you've taken my post completely the wrong way. At no point was it a personal attack I simply suggested you don't lie.
