I would rather have McStay as that third tall down back then Gardner. Gardner provides little in terms of rebound and intercepting marks. At least McStay has shown on numerous times last year he can take intercepting marks in transition, provide rebounding run which Andrews and Frost can not do. Sure he has mental fade outs through out the game, but has alot to offer then Gardner. Reminds me a bit of Rance early in his career when he was a dud. He has all the tools to be a good player.Based on yesterday though, difficult to justify McStay being selected when Schache and Frost return.
Andrews, Frost and Gardner at the back, Schache, Hipwood and Close up forward means we will be too tall with McStay as well. Plus he needs a run of games in the 2's IMO
