I suspect most of you will disagree but if my club is dumb enough to delist McVeigh and Jack I hope your club picks them up. I have always liked Brisbane as a club and I think McVeigh and Jack would be great for you guys. You would get them both for practically nothing and while neither will be there for any sort of premiership run for you guys, both are former captains of the Swans and they would certainly help your young guys develop.

I did hear earlier in the season Trengrove was someone we were looking at to help bolster our defence. Rory Thompson was another although not sure on his contract situation both of which I'm led to believe we thought were gettable. I still personally prefer McStay as a third tall but he has shown signs he could make it as the second key defender. The club will probably back in our current crop although with Skinner now an unknown again that might have changed a few minds.

If Jack gets delisted by the Swans I will personally pick him up from the airport and house him for a few days. Would be incredibly stupid by the Swans unless their salary cap is buddy tight.

Not sure what has happened with Jack this year but his numbers are not what you would expect from a good mid.

Could see a combination of trades like.

Keep 2 and 13ish to use in draft, seems from most lists ballenden is rated 18-20 so unlikely to be bid on inside 14.

19 and ~40 to Gold Coast for 22 and 30 (both about 1500 points).

22 to crows for Cameron.

30 is enough points to match pick 23ish. And if ballenden was bid at pick 16 the deficit would be about 200 points or pick 55.

We could maybe get a pick in the 50's back from crows or Gold Coast in those trades above or elsewhere (m close traded somewhere?) or trade a third round pick next year for this year (unlikely given 2018 draft strength discussion). Or we take a 200 point deficit which would drop pick 20ish to pick 25ish in the 2nd round next year.

So in are 2,13, ballenden, Cameron. Any other spare slots on list upgrade Barrett, hammer or a free agent we target.

Jack not the player he was 5 years ago, I'd pass, his not that skilful often gives away stupid free kicks and is very small, we are small enough in the midfield , we need to get bigger! I'd take McVeigh in a heartbeat, he's got solid couple of years left in him off halfback, and perhaps a future coach in waiting.

I think we are in for big off season, might pick up 3 or 4 players from other clubs and still take 3 kids in top 20 and draft few handy players later in the draft who could impact straight away.

One player late in the draft who is worthy of a 50+ choice and a shot at AFL is Brett Bewley of Williamstown. His body is ready for Afl, not lightning quick, but quick enough, strong at ground level and in the air , can play multiple positions (hb wing hf) and is a beautiful long left foot kick. I hope we look at him for a 50+ selection. I feel the same way about him as I did Mitch Hannan this time last year. They are different types of players but have same impactfulness at VFL level that can translate to the AFL.

you are right he isn't the player he was 5 years ago cause he 30 not 25 which is why swans would be willing to shed him for practically nothing. We wouldn't be recruiting him on his past ability, but more so what he could add to our team now in leadership and as 12-15 game inside mid replacement/ coach if beams or rocky goes down ( like this year). Same with McVeigh his recruitment won't be purely based on what he provides as a player but more so as an on field coach. I'm with SizeMatters on this one would be a great addition to the team but can't see the swans letting Jack go.

Would you still want Jack if we get Zaharakis and Rocky stays ?

Jack is one I wouldn't be as enthused about on the field.

McVeigh has multiple strings to his bow, has played well and can impact a game.

Jack looks pretty much cooked. He looks like he's struggling with the pace of the game and has ended up being hidden in the forward line where he's not very effective. He's basically last year's Stevie J without the goal kicking, and that's about all Stevie J brought last year (and not even that this year).

No problems with him joining as an assistant coach though.

Yeah, McVeigh's positional flexibility is definitely part of the attraction of getting him in as a player first before transitioning to coaching.

McVeigh would be a great on field coach for Mayes, Rich and Witherden especially.
Only thing is if we landed McVeigh, either Rich or Mayes would have to go from the backline. A backline of

B: Witherden. Andrews. McStay.
HB:*McVeigh*Trengove Mayes/Rich

Bench Def: Allison/Robertson/Cox/Gardiner

*if we can entice two signings for the back half.

I don't think Trengove would suit our backline. Too similar to Andrews.

I'd go with Andrews, McStay, Gardiner, Witherden, Mayes, Rich and McVeigh in the best 22.

Forget all this talk about anyone coming to Brisbane, every player apparently on the move is linked only to a Victorian team.

Looks like Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn are in the race for practically every one of them.
How do those poor Vic clubs manage?

Often more than 6 in the backline anyway these days

Jack's had a strange year though. He was completely useless for the first half of the season, but more recently he's played some really good games and looked like he still has a fair bit to offer.

Will be in europe at the end of this and through most of next year boyos. So won't be able to catch up on the off-season, nor the regular season. However, i feel we're in for a few changes and 2018 should be massive. Will even rep the lions Guernsey in norway a bit
