As it stands we’d have about 300 points taken off our second round pick next year. If we had pick 22 it’d become pick 34.

If we are serious about drafting Ballenden, we can't afford to get too cute with what we have available if/when a bid comes for him.

Not so much. We're trying to hijack it by the method of making a better offer for Kennedy, such as pick 18-19, and this upsets people who would be upset by the idea of a player who rightfully ought to be playing for a Victorian team instead playing for a not-Victorian team.

I have a chuckle when teams (as in North) say they liked Schache in his draft year - as if they unearthed some hidden talent. Of course they bloody well liked him, he was far away the best key forward in the draft which is why we took him at 2. Well spotted boys.

Amicable discussions with Adelaide, thinks the speed of the Gabba will suit Charlie. "Hopefully we can get something done"
Disappointed with commentary on Schache. "Some of the innuendo of how we have positioned ourselves on Josh is really distasteful".
Feels the discussions on Josh will pick-up next week. As said before, happy to keep Josh if that's how it unfolds. "When he re-signed his training went through the roof, but then by the end of the year he was buggered."

(aside from any trades with us) Hopefully this is the year GWS start to extract fair value for their players. (although Devon Smith for points equivalent of pick 50 isn't a great start).

They have been the masters of manipulating the draft over recent years because of hte amount of talent they had, the reductions in their list numbers year on year, and increasing salary cap pressures so they've been willing to accept unders in total to maximise draft position. That won't be the case for much longer and giving away Kennedy for a third rounder just doesn't make any sense.

I haven't seen enough of him to know if he is worth rpick 18/19 from us though.

Also - thoughts on interest in Menzel? apparantly looking for a 2 year deal. Has kicked 73 goals in 37 games over last 2 seasons. I know he isn't a pressure forward which we need but alongside Charlie Cameron thta wouldn't be such an issue and we desperately need some goals. Also fits into our missing age range. I guess we wouldn't want a free agent to dilute the Rocky compensation - although if a contract offered only diluted rocky compo from 2nd band to 3rd band that wouldn't matter much to us!

We might be using our second rounder from next year. 12 is way overs and also want to use our second rounder next year. We have two picks 18+19 and one of them should surely be enough. If we were really trying to move up the draft order it would be 12 and one of those. Understand it's along way to go and feel that next week is when we will really see things move.

The conversation was more hypothetical. Noble said having two picks closer together, for instance 18+19, gives you the ability to move up the order. He said Richmond is in a similar position with their picks.

But on the 2018 second rounder - that'd almost be the best outcome. Worst case scenario is it's 19...

We should really be looking to keep pick 12... have a feeling there will be a bargain to be had at that pick. Perfectly placed for a slider.
