ports over abundance of inside mids . Kills it in the sanfl on ball then gets bought into the power and played on the HFF .
He has some serious upside and weapons at his disposal . His handballs have so much power , bustling powerful build and uses it. Great set shot and mark for his size .
Just needs to put it all together and get a good run at an on ball position .
He is also only 23 and was always going to be a project player needing development .

So Ah Chee will come to west coast to dominate at East Perth as an inside mid....then gets promoted into the blue and gold....only to play as a high HFF.

People advocating we get Ah Chee, are probably the same ones who complain about us wasting list spots on other teams 'rejects'.

Ah Chee's AFL stats are dead set average. Nothing break out about the way he's performed at the top level (career ave of 14 touches, 2 marks, 3 tackles) which makes me think he's simply not that good. Another WAFL/SANFL dominator who just isn't AFL standard.

A free hit at him i'd take, but i'll be annoyed if we blow something like a 3rd rounder on him when we could be going to the draft.

Rioli was a pick 52 (2nd last pick of the 3rd round) after all and people act like he's going to improve our list 200%, so it's not like there aren't quality players available if the club wanted to take a chance on someone rather than give another recycled player a go :toilet:

Gee, we're really going to work our magic then aren't we. For something different we could play him on the HFF to aid his development.
considering we are in need of big bodied inside mids especially ones that can go forward and take a mark and kick goals we should take a punt on Ah chee . He is going to be pretty much free

North Melbourne's Sam Gibson has to wait for a contract extension ...31 yrs of age now but can find the ball .
If delisted might be okay for a season as a delisted free agent to help Shuey and our midfield for a season or two .

Isn't Willie a mature age draftee though? Comparable to plucking a Tim Kelly?

If Ah Chee is cheap I don't mind him. It's crucial we get a few players with mature bodies who can play through the middle with Priddis and Mitchell gonski. Sheed and Redden will take up more inside workload but they will need a chop out from guys who won't get dominated physically. I would hate to see Shuey get bogged down playing big minutes there through necessity. We will get much better value from his ball use outside and a few minutes here and there as a shock trooper.

If we were to get Liam Baker instead of Liam Ryan this year I would seriously freak out. Ryan is right under our nose and could be anything (or nothing), I think Baker is already in fifth gear whereas Ryan has several to go. It would be like picking Jordan Jones instead of Michael Walters a few years ago.
Didn't mention getting him instead of Ryan, we were talking about him on the rookie list. Agree Ryan has a much higher upside.

Just thinking on Gaff, how many teams currently use a pure winger? Because that's what he is. Not a multi-role mid, not a player that goes forward, not a player that goes back. He's a serviceable link man, who is very one-sided.

I've got GWS (Scully and Whitfield), Bulldogs (Hunter), and Hawthorn (Smith) who use these type of players. I'm sure there's more, and I'm sure theres less prolific ones. But like the 2 ruckman thing, it appears you can get by OK without a superstar winger, and that sets Gaff firmly as trade-bait.

The downside of having a blue-chip trade piece such as Gaff is WCE have really never won a trade, except for the two instances that grabbed us top pick and the league has become a lot more professional since then.

Seems like we're trying to fill in the age gap around the 22/23 year old range where we stuffed up those drafts.
Ah Chee just feels too much like Bennell, Morton, Lucas, Dick etc, I mean it's not like Port didn't have a midfield position to play him in the last few years, SPP just slotted right in for every game. I feel like if he was good enough they would have played him more.

I reckon Jetta holds a lot of grudges. There's times he absolutely burns players, and I'd wager it's because of the 100s of times those players have burnt him whilst he's in a paddock of space.
Jetta's biggest problem is field positioning. Sits in acres of space hoping while letting his man run free. Maybe if he played around the contest a bit more he wouldn't be overlooked.

For the last few years they have had Wines, Ebert, Wingard, Boak and a few others taking up the key spots in the midfield. With SPP he has played mainly off the HFF.

Achee would be way better than any of Lucas, Bennell, Morton & Dick but we really should only be looking to pick him up as delisted FA or not at all as there other playes we need our third rounders for.

I think its time to stop pretending that bog average mature imports are going to improve the team. We just have to start the rebuild from the draft and take a few losses along the way.

A good example of piss poor coaching by Simmo ..

Yeh you're right at this stage of their careers Lucas and Morton had played more games.
I suppose if there's absolutely no one else to pick up and it's the last pick in the rookie draft it might be worth a punt.
