One of the greatest supporters of the biggest turnover merchant in our midfield history casually dismisses another clubs midfielder as a turnover merchant.
Difference is we had no choice because of our lack of replacements . I was always of the opinion that we play priddis until better options were presented .

If we had the depth of Kennedy Parker jack Hannerbry heeney mills lloyd it would be easy to not play another inside mid with lesser skills

What happens to this draft being KPP heavy. Are there any we may consider at our first pick? Or even our 2nd?

I haven't paid any attention to draft prospects this year.

He's number 3 in the league because he runs around and gets cheap possessions ala Gary Ablett Junior but can't use it like him or run around or through opponents. He demands the ball even when he's on his wrong side and doesn't have a right boot more often than not he kicks it up the line to a contest. A couple of years ago he was a damaging player he hurt teams with his field kicking and running ability but he has just lost that hurt factor imo. He is a good footy player not great and the only one of our "top shelf" players that any other team would seriously give us anything decent for that I would be willing to trade as we already have players on our list that can do his job.
We don't have players that can replace him. Who on our list is going to rack up 30+ on the outside every game?

His disposal has been shit this year, but as you mentioned, in previous years he was damaging. Surely it would be much better list management to challenge him to turn it around.

He's not 100% like Shuey. Along with Priddis, these 2 have been our leading mids in the last few years. If both Shuey and Gaff were playing like they did last year, we would be playing much better than we are. Gaffs a warrior and plays through injuries and pain when some players don't. I was in the trade gaff camp but as important as building the contested side of our midfield, we still cannot afford to lose our outside run. If you look at outside group, only gaff is the most consistent and promising of it. Jetta has speed and skills but goes missing. Then the rest are unproven. Duggan if he does turn into a mid, will be better suited to an inside role.

You buy low, sell high. Trading Gaff at his lowest value in years, and watch him tear it up at a wider ground or with a new team would be a huge mistake.

And what are we trying to get out of it? Unless it gives us a clear path to an established, already A grade mid, I wouldn't be interested. Get a good young kid and it doesn't help us in the short term, while JK and NN should still be firing. Get a B grader and we'll just watch them stagnate in our midfield set up while Duggan, Parto and Venables sit on the sidelines or at half forward.

Go big or go home. Kelly, Dustin, someone like that, sure. Otherwise don't weaken our midfield.

Duggan, Jetta, Partington, Lamb
Duggan and Jetta have both been criticised this year for not racking up enough of the ball. Duggan has been shifted to HBF to get him into the game, while the experienced Jetta has never shown anything close to Gaff's consistency. He is our next best outside mid but he is a long way down in terms of production and reliability.

Partington may come good but hasn't demonstrated Gaff's running power and tbh looks to be a B grader at best, while Lamb looks set for delisting and anyway seems to be play his best football at half back, just like most of our recent draftees.

Gaff was a mid from the start and has always been a high possession accumulator. We do not have another of his type on the list.

We do, but I think we all hope he'll be traded at the end of the year [emoji6]

POS: Small forward/midfielder, Ht 178cm, Wt 76kg, DOB 19/3/1999
From Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro

July ranking: 8

There isn't a player as consistent as Higgins in this year's draft pool. The Oakleigh Chargers prospect has starred at each level he's played at across the season, and has become a really complete player. The small forward/midfielder can play in both areas of the ground as comfortably as the other. He's always dangerous around goal, and he can win the footy in the midfield. He had a big day against the Greater Western Victoria Rebels in the TAC Cup last month with 30 disposals, 11 clearances, two goals and seven tackles. Will be ready to play AFL next year. Think Toby Greene.

The more i read about Higgins the more i am keen for us to draft him!

He would complement Shuey, Gaff, Jetta, Partington, Sheed, Venables & Redden perfectly.

Swans made mitchell play heaps of neafl because he was a turnover merchant . Swans have a more elite midfield without him .
My comment was in regards to the status and compensation for Titchell Vs Gaff (i.e. 1 was barely best 22 and used as their Hutchy, while the other is considered top 5 on the list and a walk up start).

I would also extend Jeremy McGovern's, Elliot Yeo's, Liam Duggan's and Simon Tunbridge's contracts. Also look to pick up either Hayden Ballantyne or Lindsay Thomas on short-term deals to try and add some X-factor to the team line-up.

I stopped reading after these two sentences. Adam Lee is on the money though
