What are people's thoughts on chasing Matthew Kennedy from GWS? Out of contract at the end of this year. Not sure what he would cost given he was a Pick 13, but at 20 years of age, playing 16 games this year could be a 150-200 game quality mid??

Bloody good talent, would definitely take him. Would love Hopper too.

Yeh wouldn't say no. I think our biggest problem this off-season is our lack of tradeable assets. Apart from Lycett & Gaff I really don't see anyone who would actually be worth something that I'd be ok giving up.

Get Hall & Rockliff and they would help our midfield over the next 2-3 years.

Really need more young gun mids though.

How much would Hall cost in terms of picks?

We have one of the best back lines so why would we want an injured Stratton? Our HBF prospects run very deep.

Or Gaff for your other Mitchell (we like pairs)

Wht would we swap one of our best mids for a B grader in Hartung and a defender who we dont need and have more of than we can play?

Gaff to either Richmond, Saints, Norths or Melbourne would net us more.

Wouldnt mind Hartung, swap for Schofield, Masten or Lamb.

You are still overpaying for shit and likely longer term deals. Next year looks like a better free agent class, plus add in pay rises to McGovern and Yeo.

Find a way to reach the minimum spend this year and keep the cap space and flexibility for next year

And you are suggesting we simply overpay existing players next year and make mo effort to improve the list using cash we have bucket loads of.
And next year we have potentially Le cras, Wellingham, Karpany, EMac and even Gaff as a FA move so thats another $1 to $2 m freed up.

Do we front load more contract then as well?

How many trades anf FA do you expect to get in next year? $3 m worth?

As many have said restructure and front load existing contracts. average player salary is around $300K so basically a 10-20% bump for our best 22 would cover the $1m we need to spend.

Gaff and Schofield to Geelong.
Masten to Gold Coast.
We sign Motlop as a free agent.

For Gaff, Schofield and Masten we get Menagola plus the end of 1st round FA pick Cats get for Motlop plus Cats pick 34.

If need to offer to pay some of Gaffs salary for one season to help with the Cats cap space.

Cats get Gaff, Ablett and Schofield and still have pick 20 for D Smith.

Suns get Masten lose a 33 year old Ablett.

We then hit the draft with picks 13 or 15, pick 21, 30ish, 34, 48ish.

These obviously change depending on where we and the Cats end up finishing.

Yeah only plays one position. Appears to be a bit of a bolter though, could go earlier than he is currently ranked.

Retaining Gaff may not be an option. Its not like he's not getting picked, we arent playing finals or not paying him enough.

If he elects to move its a likestyle choice on where he wants to live.
