It's a worry Falco.
Another example of poor player development at East Perth.
When I watched him at Eagles training early in the year , they had him doing lots of run throughs from the wing bouncing the ball and then shooting for goal from the 45 / 50 mark...... he didn't miss to many .

I thought this was an indication that we may be grooming him as an attacking wingman...... alas it was not to be.

I see him long term as being a great option on the wing.
I think we got suckered into the intercept marking fad which is around at the moment. In a team deficient speed and skills on the outside, he should've been groomed in that direction. I agree, another poor example of player development.

I hope we see him developed towards an aggressive wingman role next year, he has the skill set for it.

Guys

I think Wce has to draft at least 2 speedy small Fwds to harass, tackle and kick goals ..

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that both GF teams Richmond and Crows have these types of players and in Richmond’s case they have 3 Butler , Rioli and Castania versus Betts and Cameron ..

Also Hawthorn shone with Cyril and Poppy ..

Any likely types available to draft ??

Losing two brownlow medallists but gaining Nic Nat... I don't think the drop will be as pronounced as many fear.
Next years first or second rounder will be a nice carrot to dangle though, considering what a lot of people seem to think about out future prospects.
Yes, it's not like losing Judd a peak form Brownlow medallist, both Mitch and Pridda would have been absolutely cooked next year.

They also have a midfield of Crouchx2 & Sloane / Dusty & Cotchin.
Our forward line isn't that bad. We just don't win it in the centre.

It's not really a drop off I worry about, as our key forwards and backline are too good to see us finish bottom 4.

What I dread is another mediocre mid-table finish, due to the fact that other midfields in the competition are simply better than ours. We'll jag the odd good win (ala Geelong this year) and will be somewhat competitive with Shuey & Naitanui, but we can't be a top 4 club without a great midfield. We'll just watch as the Martins and Kellys and Dangerfields of the competition show us what finals football is really about - the cream rising to the top.

People can use Adelaide as an exception to this, but their midfield is still getting consistently good results in terms of clearances & ball movement and they have Sloane. WCE will win more clearances next year with Naitanui back, but our ball movement was consistent shithouse this year and, unless we add some class in the coming weeks, it projects to be no different in 2018.

Do we need to follow other teams tactics in order to win? why not alter our own tactics to suit the list we have/will have. Following another teams formula is dangerous.

It’s not really a formula but a weakness that WCE have no genuine speedy crumbers at the feet of Kennedy or Darling..

How about if we throw in Darling?

Darling kicked 43 goals. Higgins kicked 18. We are light on forward options after Darlo. Why in gods earth would we do that trade? Is there an inside joke on this thread I'm not privy too? And throw in a 2nd rounder too? This board has gone crazy.

I wonder if there's been much discussion about Brendon ah chee at the eagles,if he gets delisted we should at least rookie him,has has some great games, played well in the Sanfl too.

Will be pretty annoyed if we go Hartung for Gaff.... Would have to be a first rounder ( Which they do not have) and Hartung as a starting point and even then not worth it.

We are in interesting predicament with Gaff where i think the club will entertain a trade if we get some good value out of it but at the same time we will still get something decent if he leaves next year.

Gaff at his best is an A grade wingman.. but he is no match winner like Shuey. Gaff is a massively hard worker and a good link player when on. I think if he does go we will Keep Masten and us him as a wingman until we get another wingman.
