3rd best mid at Geelong, behind Dangerfield and Selwood. He's quality.

He is a premium mid at Geelong so I get where you are coming from as it applies to a vast majority of players. Ultimately he gets a lot of the ball amd performs to a high standard more often than not so I can only judge him on that.
Someone like Menengola I think would not of made it at West Coast because he would not of got in our midfield which just goes to show you where we are at and how our club thinks. Good enough to play midfield with Danger, Selwood and Duncan but would not of got in with Shuey, Priddis etc.
You can be unlucky where you get drafted and end up playing with spuds. I think Jack Watts would of been a star if drafted by Sydney or Hawthorn, but unlucky Jack you got drafted by Melbourne.
Our club needs to take some risks and if you pay overs every now and again so be it as long as you are trying to improve. The draft is a lottery and the chances of you getting a very very good player from it are pretty low.

We should be doing all we can to develop Yeo and Duggan into mids - they have the potential, but our development in this area seems to ... really stink. Happy to give up our 2nd for Wilson, the man has skills.

Yeo should be there by now, he is not an 18 year old kid and Duggan while still only 20 has played nearly 50 games also so how much more development you reckon they have in them.
Isn't 50 games the magical number these days that tells you or you need to know about a player?

Freo have a better 2nd round pick and I suspect that pick will get it done, so it's a bit academic anyway imo. Don't think we're seriously in the hunt for Wilson, obviously would be remiss of us if we didn't enquire but we don't have the leverage compared to Freo.

We have plenty of leverage, we just have to stop rating the players on our list as high as we do. Other than 4-6 players the entire squad is tradable.

Gaff next season will be interesting prospect. With no priddis/mitch, i wouldn't put it past simmo to play him as an on baller. That could actually impact on our compo if he does leave.

Yep and how many do we have that have genuine pace,he can kick it 65-70 metres and has good skills plus he is ready to go.
I reckon he wouldn't be too shabby on a wing either.

Would not hesitate to offer our 3rd (about pick 48 I think?), he has the talent and at around that level the picks are quite speculative anyway. If it doesn't work out and he doesn't play a game no big loss.
