If we lose gaff, should go after Motlop. He's a replacement for him plus adds speed to our midfield.

Brayshaw is one of few players around our pick i'd be fairly 'bleh' on taking to be honest. It would be a solid/safe choice.

Probs going to be crucified by Monocle and AsterixTheGaul for generalizing here but his size and inability to really play anywhere else on the ground concern me. Not big, not small, not slow, not fast, not an elite kick, not a bad kick, just an old school midfielder. Something i can imagine us being into. Very smart and very clean, but I just don't see enough here for me to think he could be an A grader.

  • Clarks production is always a concern but there's so much to work with here it's not even funny. Worth the punt.
  • Constable's pace could raise alarms, not exactly flash but with his size and build he WOULD be that inside bull we've been looking for, pure midfielder replacement. Also have potential to turn him into a KPP if we needed and could play immediately.
  • O'brien reminds me of a Lachie Whitfield. He'd be a perfect Gaff replacement if we had 2 picks, but i'd be a little bit put out if we used our first on him. He won't fix anything playing off a back flank or a wing.
  • Coffield i really like, has a mixture of everything, is captain for his club, and would be able to rest forward.
  • Higgins is just a pure sick campaigner. Won't fix our midfield but will do wonders off the HFF, would love him.
  • If D.Fogarty slides i'd toss out all plans and pick that sumbitch. Even Ahead of Clark and Higgins. Any club taking him could very well shoot themselves in the foot if his injuries turn out to be worse or if it's revealed he's just a man child and can't impact at the next level.

Current wish list - D.Fogarty <---- Higgins/Clark <----- Coffield <----- Brayshaw/Constable <----- Obrien.

All of these players are better than Redden btw.

Replacement? He is unfit, has no worth ethic and would run a quarter of the distance does per game. Completely different player.

I'll take him for free as a FA because we are desperate but he's not a replacement for Gaff.

Yeah Gaff and Motlop aren't even slightly similar. To be honest I doubt we'd get the best out of him if Chris Scott didn't manage to

Fairo. I was just impressed by his last game.

Also wtf apparently we are interested in Reece Conca again.

So Trade Radio pushing that Gaff is a much higher chance of moving to St Kilda.

What would the deal be?

1. Pick 7 or 8 feels unders while pick 7 and 8 feels overs (points combined 3,199 so better than number 1)
2. Pick 7 and 8 giving St Kilda back pick 13 is 1987 points or say pick 4 so pretty close.
3. Acres as part payment - since he just extended, I would not expect that he is part of it but it could be 7 or 8 and Acres for Gaff and 30.
4. St Kilda have 7 and 8 and their next 2 picks are 43 and 61 so 7 and 43 might be enough (equivalent of pick 4)

Given our prior experience, I cannot see our 2018 compo pick if Gaff goes next year being as good most of the above.

Is there any way to listen to trade radio without needing to watch a ****ing video?

I did not see as much of Brayshaw during the carnival as he made more of a move later in the season. I know Monocle has strong Melbourne connections that have given him a lot more to get keen on Brayshaw so I would back in Monocle and his due diligence.

D Fogarty is a worry. This is classic best available mentality in the draft and he is not a midfielder. Yes he is high end value but we just do not need him anywhere near as much as we need a silky midfielder. Higgins will give you chop out time in the midfield as well as hitting the scoreboard.

Slightly adjusted - Higgins/Clark<---- Coffield <----- Brayshaw/Constable <----- Obrien<----- D.Fogarty

So you've literally suggested Chris Masten and Steven Motlop as viable alternatives to Andrew Gaff on the wing.

Wtf?

Upgrading picks sounds great but its not an easy thing to do. No team is going to easily give up a pick to downgrade even if they get 2 in return.

Clubs with surplus oicks will like Gold Coast, possibly Lions and GWS.

But more than one club will bid so its a sellers market.

Next years draft is supposed to be much deeper than this year.

Motlop is another inconsistent player we don’t need, he is also another player if things don’t go well early for him in a game he just drifts around doing nothing.
We don’t need these types of players, we need strong willed players who will die for the club and it’s cause. We have enough thin skinned players now and don’t need any more. I would much prefer Fasolo than Motlop.

Current player comparison please

He'd be a fair point of difference in our midfield, as he seems to be a genuine midfielder that still has some reasonable toe. Just watching him he reminds me of the sort of player the dogs would like, in that he seemed to be good at surging the ball forward and running in waves with his teammates. His vision and handball skills are also quite impressive.

As DS mentioned though he is on the smaller side at about 183cm, so he'll probably never be that contested bull we're all looking for, but he does look a likely type and he looks to have the tools necessary to be a good AFL mid.*

Jack Viney is like 5'9 . Contested bull. 6ft is still a good size :).
