2017 trade hypothetical thread

Well I didn't think the theory was that abstract but ok,.
Geelong give up 1 late 2nd round pick,. and in exchange they receive a whole bunch of picks in exchange,. including back to back picks at 53/54. Seeing as the cats have traded away alot of their picks in the past 2-3 seasons, I would think they'd love to go into the draft with more live picks,. espescially seeing as their recruitment team seem to be have their fingers well and truly on the pulse when it comes to finding mid/late draft talent. But hey.. it's just my opinion..

Not only are the points low, Geelong have have picked plenty of late pick talent in recent years. Its not as if when you early trade picks out you dont have picks at all , the picks you have are at the tail end of the draft. For Eg. 2016 Narkle 60, House 68 , Abbott 69 ..2015 Gardner 59,Menegola 66 , Buzza 69 , Hayball 70... Hayball was the last pick in the draft.
Its highly unlikely that they Geelong would even use 71 and 89. To make a swap happen for what you proposing ..34 would have to be swapped for something like a 43 and 44 542 <> 740. Or why do it? Make no sense to downgrade for less points.

Agreed... but KPD harder to acquire than small mids...

Both of value.. no doubt... Id have Lever over Daniel by choice, talent and value if I had to choose.

GO Catters
Talent not so much, what Daniel lacks in leg speed and height, one thing for sure is he is one of the smartest footballers playing.

WCE: McGovern and 2nd round pick
Adelaide: 1st Round pick and Venables
very unrealistic trade situation tbh. The eagles recruiters went out on a limb and overlooked home grown boy SPP for venables and hence caused some huge uproar. The eagles midfield is also a huge weakness for the club and they wont trade their most promising youngster for an undersized KPD (which is not an immediate need).

Highly doubt we will give away a top 12 pick and a 2nd round downgrade based on the relative failure of the last times we have done so, especially given that we have the higher bargaining position since Gov Jr is out of contract this year. I doubt fremantle will trade you their first either since it is likely to be a top 10, and they don't have a 2nd this year from memory so the crows don't have much leverage there.

If west coast and fremantle are chasing him as hard as some rumours suggest, then they'll be prepared to offer their first.

A top 10 pick for an uncontracted 3rd tall forward probably isn't going to happen, no matter what the rumours suggest.
Perhaps not,but you don't offer a developing player $500k a season, unless you think he's a high talent. You can try downplaying his value by pigeonholing him as 3rd tall, doesn't mean the clubs will agree.

With the Crows starting with (based on today) - 17, 35, 53, 71, 89, 107, 125

AND Sadly I think McGovern is gone.. BUT we should get strong pick exchange for him,...

M.Mcgovern + Crows pick 35 / FOR / West Coast Picks 12 + 30

Harry Dear + Crows pick 71 / FOR / Richmond Pick 54

Crows picks 53, 54, 71, 89 (combined 482 points) / FOR / Geelong Pick 34 (542 points)

Crows go into the draft with picks 12, 17, 30, 34, 107*, 125*

*Use these picks to upgrade Hugh Greenwood & Jono Beech.

Commit to drafting Jackson Edwards as Father Son,. Bid comes between 20-30, pick values adjusted.

I dont understand the obsession of some Crows fans in wanting to just keep hitting the draft..

You guys are in your premiership window right now...trade some of those picks for some mature guns to help you win the premiership. Yes, Gibbs would be an obvious one.

It's what Hawthorn & Geelong have done to good affect..the time is now to fill some holes and get your Dangerfield, Tuohy, Henderson, Gibson, McEvoy etc

500k a year from 2018 when the salary cap increases by 20% is only a bit over 100k higher than the average salary. Don't see how that equates to a top 10 pick?

If we have put a sizeable offer in front of Gov Jnr - the owness is on us to get the deal done. It doesn't look great to the player. We had the same conversation when Yeo came over from Brisbane. It was clear we'd been courting him for some time- so we had to pull our side of the deal to get the job done.

I would probably suggest that you will ask for our 1st, we will offer our third and we both settle for the 2nd round pick. Which could be as low as mid twenties, on current form.

You come away thinking you've been ripped off, we complain that we should have shafted you because he "clearly nominated us" and he's out of contract.

Everybody wins!

Yes plllllease Hawks...Spend another Rd1 pick on an aging ruck....

McEvoy has worked out so well.... Do it do it do it do it again... :thumbsu:

At least we only pissed away a Rd2 on Hmac. o_O:(:drunk:

Go Catters

He would have done so much better had he stayed at the Saints.

We got him at age 25. Now 27. So old.

If he carries on kicking 40 goals a year til he retires, he will end up on 500-550 goals for his career.

Hardly a disappointment from an undersized KP. He just hasn't developed into the 70-80 goal a year forward he looked like becoming earlier on.

He's really not though. Cam has him well and truly covered once the ball hits the deck. Oh well, they're both much more promising than Jack"the disappointment"Darling.
Yeah Nah. I rate Gov better in that regards as well plus Gov actually has elite footskills on either side of his body.
McCarthy had no discipline and will probably end up being a bigger disappointment than darling.

Jack Darling is on track to be a 500 goal forward. I'd hate to see what is considered a success given that only 58 players in VFL/AFL history have done so

Na, Cam kicked 35 in his second year as a skinny-fat teenager, Darlings been a complete man child since the get go. I rate McGovern but I wouldn't give up a top 10 pick for him without something coming back our way. I don't think west Coast supporters would disagree regarding his worth, would you give up a top 10 pick for him?

Yeah and darling kicked 53 in his second year as the eagles main man after both lecras and Kennedy went down.

I agree about Gov not being a top 10. I rekon late first is most I'd be willing to pay him

Saints fans:
Would you accept pick 14 & 15 for pick 4?
You could then trade your 3 first round picks to GWS for Kelly
It would allow GWS to have enough points to get their academy players.
Saints get Kelly
Tigers get the best tall in the draft.

No. 3 firsts is overs for anyone let alone Kelly, they'd prefer 4 and 8 anyway, and don't really have any notable academy players looking like going that high currently so would really be a pointless trade.

Sure but Darling is renowned for going to water in big moments, not exactly the bloke you want to be kicking the ball near in a big final.
You'd still want him out there. He can play a shocker but still draws away a key defender from the opposition and you never know, he might actually play well on the big day!

Regardless of whether people perceive he melts under pressure or not, he's till a best 22 for every team in the AFL

I want some of that Redden trade value...I'd be pissed if we settled for 25 and above
