He's a pretty decent footy playerBennell ??????? seriously ??? Otherwise looks good , he is not a walk up start in my opinion
They both get up the ground anyway and I know who I'd rather in a goal square wrestle.A lot of people are listings Tabs at full forward, he needs to play as a roving leading player, ala Nick Riewoldt. List him as CHF.
McCarthy is the full forward.

I must admit i was thinking of a round 1 team , So the only reason i questioned his selection. He is every day of the week when fit.
If he’s fit, I have no problem with it. Dude is easily top 10 in the AFL.I must admit i was thinking of a round 1 team , So the only reason i questioned his selection.

I want him playing how and where he has been doing it in the JLT .Think of it this way. Would you rather Tabs marking up the ground and kicking it into a double-teamed McCarthy or the other way around?
I don't know if it's wishful thinking, but I look at our best 22 and think if don't cop bad luck with injuries we can be knocking on the door for top 4.
The side just look organised and driven this preseason.
Do need Kerstan, McCarthy and Matera to average at least 1 to 1.5 goals per game each though.
Bennel a true wild card.
Port is going to be a real litmus test.
If we need Taberner's contested marking up the ground to the move the ball I'd say that's a sign we aren't moving it that well - not saying it shouldn't happen, just ideally it doesn't need to. We look far better when he's inside 50 as it not only gives us a contested marking target in goal range but also draws defenders to give our other forwards more space to spread into.A lot of people are listings Tabs at full forward, he needs to play as a roving leading player, ala Nick Riewoldt. I can’t believe sutcliffe still makes starting 22 teams. He makes so many turn overs at critical times out of defense. I don’t know what the match committee sees.
Meek is the gimme drop. Then one more from your list of 4.For round 1, I see only Hill coming in from those that didn't play on the weekend.
Means we have to drop 2 players. Can see them coming from the following 4:
D Pearce
Kersten
Sutcliffe
Spurr
My gut feel is they drop D Pearce for sure, the second player to miss becomes a little more tricky.
We have S Hill, Logue, Cerra and Hughes pressing for round 2.
Bennell, Darcy, Cox, etc. also looking to break in at some point.

Two if BHill comes in.Meek is the gimme drop. Then one more from your list of 4.
Hughes Hamling Logue
Ryan A. Pearce Wilson
B. Hill Fyfe S. Hill
Walters McCarthy Banfield
Darcy Taberner Mundy
Sandilands Neale Brayshaw
Blakely Tucker Matera Langdon
This is my best 22, minus Bennell since it's unclear where he stands at the moment, (but he's an easy like for like swap with Matera if available)
Realistically though, M. Johnson, Spurr, Ballantyne and D. Pearce are going to be in the team round 1 instead of some of the players named above.
Well Logue has not played a single scratch match so he is gone (enter Johnson) S Hill also is not playing so add Ballantyne but that is as far as it goes in my view. There simply is not a position in the team available for D Pearce or Spurr to fill. I thought D Pearce was very good and Spurr not bad in the last scratchy but no other player deserves to be dropped for them.
I wonder if Hamling could be a good swingman. Was it against the Bulldogs last year he went forward after copping a knock and not being able to run? It was the same game Nyhuis went nuts.
