Maybe after we bid on Briggs and Kelly?
Do Collingwood have the points for Kelly now ? .....Quanor went pretty early

Don't bet on it - now that we have their pick you watch them have a break out year and finish just outside the top 8
Carlton have Cripps, Curnow, Docherty and...? Where's their star power?

It's not Dow or O'Brien or any draftee who's played less than 30 games. It's not McGovern. It's not aging players like Murphy and Thomas.

And they're suddenly going to make the 8?

This isn't Collingwood with Treloar, Grundy, Adams, etc.

This isn't even Brisbane who have Neale, Zorko, Lyons, Hipwood, Berry and handy support with Robinson, Rich, Martin, Cameron, Hodge, Taylor, etc. And Brisbane finished bottom 4 with that list last season.

Holy **** if anyone wants a laugh go read the early 40s pages of the carlton draft thread.

Listen to them talking about how their ballsy (should read: ******* atrocious) trade is 'stamping their authority' on moving up the ladder and 'rebuild complete'.

I'm pissing myself.
They really are the most stupid obnoxious irrelevant supporters

GC will finish bottom next year imo. they will virtually go into next year with no star players and a side full of b grade trades. Blues arent as bad next year as everyone thinks.
Cold Toast are shit, Carton marginally better

The only thing preventing Carlton getting another wooden spoon is the fact Gold Coast are going to have the worst year in AFL history.

I am looking forward to supporting three teams in 2018- Crows, whoever is playing Carlton, whoever is playing Port.
Could be worth us tanking our game against Gold Coast for pick #1.

... joking. ;)

Well the trade and draft period summed up why we need changes at afc. ******* bewildered by our decision making. Why didn't we trade into the top 5 picks during the trade period? I hope we do well next year but until Burton and co are exited from the club nothing will change.

I really hope this works out.

Having said that I’m genuinely stumped at what our actual strategy is?
Are we in a rebuild?
Or we actually just making it up as we go along!

I know one thing for sure, a lot of people will be judged by this off seasons decisions.

Go and join in thr circlejerk with the blues then mate, you can talk about how they have '2 instant midfielders' - how bad doea your midfield need to be that 2 rookies constitute walk up starters no questions asked.

**** me, I get the Suns might get the spoon but as long as we finish top 6 and they finish bottom 3 this trade is ****ing bank.

I wouldnt write the Suns off so easily.

They played 11 consecutive away games this year plus China. They will improve.
They have a bunch of high draft picks in the 20-30 game bracket.

If Dew can get them believing, they could do good things.

Have a hell of a lot more upside than Carlton

They will be.

They'll have good days when all their kids click but it's a very slow build. Their best player is injury prone, their next best is coming off an ACL, they have no senior midfield or defensive depth and no decent ruck.

15th at best.

if you go through next years draw they have a genuine shot of winning upwards of 9 games because of the teams they play twice. if they win most of those they they will finish with a pick 5 or 6. see what happens I guess. I will chill out but this wont sit comfy for awhile
How many games did they win this year against the teams they double up on? 1?

I'm not sure but can't we trade Carltons first round pick next year and maybe pick 21 for Luko or Rankine?

No, the rules were clear that you cannot trade a player once they’ve been drafted.

I’m expecting some good offers tomorrow for the first pick, which now is ours thanks to WCE trading with the swans.

points are irrelevant. What we've done is given up two mediocre firsts for potentially one of the best picks in the game.

If Carlton are bottom 3, this could outdo the McLeod -> Groom trade.
Yeah, nah. McLeod for Groom is up there as one of the best trades in AFL history. 2 x mid-teen picks should be able to produce something for Carlton at least. McLeod played over 300 games and was a 5xAA, while Groom played about 2 games.

Yeah there’s always the risk of the draft crop turning out better or worse a year on, but that is obviously the risk we chose to take

Actually feel like this trade could be mutually beneficial, I do rate Stocker
You think Ham and Reid wouldn't be across next year's likely 1st round players?

Just look at this talent, things would have to go horribly wrong for a lot of these lads not to make the next step.

You’d think the top 4 players would all be guys who’ve taken the next step, so that’s fair

However the guy we pick might be just as good as the guy Carlton picks, it could end up a very deep first round

I really hope this works out.

Having said that I’m genuinely stumped at what our actual strategy is?

I know one thing for sure, a lot of people will be judged by this off seasons decisions.

Our strategy is that we are very very confident in our list and are backing them in.

In that case we have the ability to trade down. Its a win for us.
