Nice summation Andre. I interpreted his comments to be that Wilson & Kennedy trades would be done pretty easily with a pragmatic valuation & understanding of Freo & Carlton's available picks (future picks being the best available value).

As suspected, Dev's trade will be more problematic - I support the club's view that Dev's worth a first rounder & EFC needs to find one. I guess we can only hope that Adelaide comes to satisfactory arrangements with Motlop, Melbourne (on Lever) & Brisbane (on Cameron). If Adelaide end up with Motlop & picks 10, 16, 18/19 & either a 2018 first rounder, second rounder or pick 27 this year, they might be willing to take a punt on taking Aaron Francis back. Ideally I'd like to grab 16, because that might enable GWS to trade up (in concert with one of this or next year's second round picks) to around 11. But even 18/19 gives us a little more options than what we'd have if only holding 24 & 26 (after the Rockliff FA compo pick rolls in).

He also mentioned that while we wouldn't be looking for an established ruck, we may pick one up from the draft - so I think Nathan Richards as a rookie might still be a possible.

All pretty much as expected (or at least desired).

Yes, that would seem entirely possible. Would add a guy with some experience for no/little cost, and hopefully a lot to prove. De Boer proved to be a solid pickup this year, and with the loss of Johnson & Smith from the forward line, such a move would be low risk for possible moderate reward. I wouldn't have a problem with him as a rookie selection, nor maybe as a main list selection depending on what we do with our other picks. Add a bit more blue collar to the forward line.

If Leon is looking for tackle pressure in the forward 50 I presume. Not a goalkicker though. But you're usually not going to find gold nuggets in someone else's leavings - although some clubs do extremely well out of recycling players from other clubs.

I use a fairly simple test to these reports which works pretty well. If it isn't referenced to anyone who would have a say in the decision it probably means three fifths of nothing.
A rookie spot no big deal though.

I if we can reasonably assume he'll be retiring due to injury we can pay out next outside the cap as I understand it. Again though, it's october and I'm sure the cap is planned for next year. Bit late to suddenly throw cash at Devon I would think , although mmmm

Any cap space in 2018 can also be banked into 2019, which is probably more useful.
