With how he performs and his skill levels at present anyone could replace him and have the same minimal impact.

Have we tried Mullet up forward yet?

Fair chance he'd contribute as much up there as Polson would right now.
The difference is that Polson is learning how to play as a fwd. Has never/rarely done it at any level until now. His natural position is an outside mid.

Mullett doesnt really have scope for improvement compared to Polson. We need to worry about output for 2019/20.

Getting crap output now is ok if it is laying the groundwork for better in the years ahead.

Might be a bit easier and fairer if he was learning a new craft at a lower level.

At the highest level he's being exposed.

I think you need both. If you have one guy with the razzle dazzle then you can have two resting mids with your three talls. Then rotate your mids through.

But I still maintain having one genuine crumbing forward is a must.

I am not disagreeing with you, I just wouldn't target that type of player at this point given what our list looks like

Brisbane go OK and this is them vs us:
Andrews......McCluggage......Rayner.....Witherden.....Hipwood.....Berry.......Bailey...........Cox..............McStay.........Cutler......Gardiner......Mathieson
Weitering....Dow.................Fisher......O'Brien..........McKay.......SPS..........Williamson....Cuningham....Marchbank...Curnow....Macreadie....Kennedy

It's not always a like for like, but you get the idea.
Brisbane have had 2 distinct advantages over Carlton this year; a. Less injuries b. Better crop of mature players.
Another thing that stands out a little is that their picks overall, would be lower than ours. Most of our guys were taken relatively early on.

I rate the Lion's youth highly, and agree with point a and b.

They also started their rebuild 2 years earlier, so the development of both sides will be interesting

Lions have done well but their depth or talent or potential elite players isn't what we have. Much like Melbourne over St Kilda.

All this talk about Polson. I don't recall he ever cut it up at VFL level.
If you can't dominate there, then forget seniors.
At least Cunningham dominated some VFL games and carried some of that form in the seniors.
I think for Polson's size, he needs alot more tricks (big ask). And he's not big enough to lay proper tackles. I'd love to be wrong, but not confident.

4 cms shorter than Simmo
Same weight as Simmo
14 years younger than Simmo
Not sure on the "not big enough to lay proper tackles" statement. Simmo goes alright...

They certainly have elite players in the making Soapy, more than the Saints. Hipwood, McCluggage, Andrews. Then there are other rebuilding/middle tier that I believe we will surpass

Lions are much better than the Saints but without any bias I go through all the lists and at this stage we have potentially the best of the lot

Saw him get 28 possessions in a game last year and looked a star then I saw him shut down Swallow in another game. Was impressive. Learning to play a new position as a small forward in this side would be hard for an experienced player (how's wright going) let alone a young player with only 11 games

Yeah I dont see it.
Not one game did I see that he was consistant over two quarters let alone four.

Don't see it? Go back and read all the vfl reviews from the coach that will tell you

Lions have a better spread of talented, but we’ve got two potential Top 5 league players in Cripps and Curnow. Cripps is arguably already there.

They’ve done well getting decent players in the draft in teens and early 20s and we’ve got that luxury this year with a better draft pool.

Sam McClure is saying that he believes we will get priority selection of two state league players, ahead of the draft.

Then a priority pick, which we may be forced to trade.

The second part of that equation may be why we've been into MM

McGovern with the PP
Collins and a mid or small forward with the 2 priority selections.

I don't get this forcing state league players upon someone.
Surely it's just the opportunity and not the necessity

And? It doesnt change that he is inconsistant over 4 quarters.
Look. I am not saying he hasnt improved greatly from his first year and might deserve another contract but he hasnt yet been given a sniff at AFL level and that is concerning given the team we have played during the year.

I'm hopeful of this. But it all depends on the 'potentials' in Pickett, Macreadie, Cuningham and Williamson. If two or 3 of those 4 come on then we have the best list of the lot. If none of those 4 come on and Le Bois, Kerr and Polson drop out (most likely) then we drop back a little and the Lions list looks pretty good.

Ultimately saving us vs the Lions regardless is that I'm sure they will lose some of their star young players.

Pretty decent outcome when you think about it. Especially if we choose well with the state leauge players
