Norton anti virus???

Really like the team, prefer Cogs to Libba.

Hopefully it turns out to be an anti virus. I don't need this team to have the same virus my starting team from last year seemed to have!

Can't find a way to get Cogs in that i'm happy with... hopefully Libba will be keen to redeem himself after last year!

Current team is fairly standard really, I'm pretty risk averse.

Gone the 3-0-5 approach in defence with Sicily as a fwd.

Midfield I've gone for trusted players who I believe are undervalued and likely to be top 10.
I would want to add Danger, Mitchell, Martin and possibly 1 other bolter.
I like Sloane early because of so many Friday/Thursday night games early and his ability to go 150+
I do worry about the inclusion of Gibbs/CEY and even Gibson to his scoring though.

Rucks are tried and true - haven't changed for a while.

Forwards are a mess, I've decided to just lock in top picks from the start, and not risk it with Smith/Walters/Barlow etc.
Sydney have 3 of their first 5 games at home so generally play better there.
I can swing Sicily down back and it means I just have to upgrade to Greene/Gray/Menegola

Bless Pendlebury for being the prince of SC but there's been plenty of red flags from him this Pre season. Buckley will stuff him around and he's been picking up injuries. Looked very disinterested in the JLT for what its worth.
Would love to discuss Pendles more - do people see him being jerked around by Bucks or underpriced given his history as a SC stuf muffin?

This could be first time in years I haven't started him.
He's been a guaranteed top 5 player for years now and one of the best captain choices as well.

But last year he was poor (by his high standards), he was clearly carrying an injury and honestly I am not sure this has been resolved.
I don't care about his score or attitude in JLT, he's too good for that stuff.

But I think with the mystery around his injury, the concern around how Bucks plays him and with a lot of mids around him taking points he may struggle.
This isn't the Collingwood of the 2000s where Beams, Swan and Pendlebury were all top 5 players, so I'm not sure points will be shared as easily between Adams, Treloar, Pendles and Sidey.

See I see last year as a complete right off.
Backline experiment didnt work - they have found the answer in Crisp and Murray.
Surely the man is over whatever injuries he has had (just remembered the sore wrist in Gaelic game).
Has always been a perrenial non-subscriber to preseason matches and half-asses his way through it.
Last year was also a right-off off-field with the birth of his first child, late nights, getting into a new rhythm.
This year is a fresh start and I expect him to be better for the year from hell he has had.

Good points, interesting insight into the backline - I hope you're right.
I believe he had ice on a leg injury from the weekend - which isn't great to see, but would be precautionary, but still something.
The change in lifestyle last year no doubt had an impact, I think you've got a point there.

I don't think anyone could knock you for picking Pendles, he has been the 2nd best SC player of the past 10 years.

Good side .....let me ask ...how much cash left over to bring Dangerfield back in Rounds 2 or 3 ?

100k left over.

I do need to think more about how I get Danger in, but I don't want to over-plan it as anything could happen.
Mmm yes ? ......because i have Mitchell, Kelly, and Dusty .....i have enough $$$ to simply choose one of those three to upgrade back to Danger .....if i so choose ?

:thumbsu: Very safe side ......should get off to a good start ....not planning for Dangerfield ?

Not overly. Maybe he has a bad game or two and hits 650k and then I can trade omeara to him after he and some rookie makes some quick cash.

But there will no doubt be some cash available from correction trades that can be used.

To me, that seems wasteful.
Even if one of those 3 starts off poorly, you'd back them in to be top mids by year's end and will trade them back in eventually you'd think.

If you're just going to immediately trade Danger back in you're either better off starting with him or trading him down to a rookie and keeping the cash to bring him back in +whatever the rookie makes.

So which FWD line would your guys run.

Option A. $56,600 remaining
Greene, Walters, McLean, Sicily, Bell, Ahern (Fritsch, Ryan)

Option B. $66,700 remaining
Walters, McLean, Smith, Sicily, Bell, Rayner (Fritsch, Ryan)

I had this discussion re the merits of keeping Gray in my side, given his 1 week suspension .....i think i can offset the points lost with Gray by the right rookie, but Danger is in a different scoring league

No i won't hold Danger .....remember that if i trade him back in for another super premium, that player wouldn't have been in my side to start with ....so it's simply a trade burn

Yes i could upgrade a Rookie .....but depends on how long it takes to generate the cash & how hot Danger gets in the meantime ??

I don't think anyone could knock you for picking Pendles, he has been the 2nd best SC player of the past 10 years.

Just for fun I tallied up their SC totals since making best 22 (20+ games). If you give a zero for a missed game, GAJ currebtly has 12 years at 99.1 av. Pendles has 11 years at 96.1 av. So only about 3% difference, guessing this is a lot less than most would have thought. Moral of story... playing games is important.

sensible. $135k in the bank (to help bring Danger in asap)

risky. no $ left
upload_2018-3-12_23-30-56.png

11 more sleeps till the season starts...

... it's going to be a loooooooooooong 1.5 weeks

Tweaked a little since last post.. let me know what you think!

Imagine if Sam Docherty wasn't injured and how your team would look with a $630k defender, then if Nic Nat dominated JLT. :rainbow:

We'd all have five starting rookie midfielders.
