What I got from his initial reaction getting selected by WCE at the draft is that he would want to go home at some point.
Did not look a happy chap.

“Myself and my manager have decided to put contract negotiations on ice /hold until the end of the year “

He said it was to “take the pressure off so he can focus on his footy”

But still very worrying

Could be some truth to those Sydney rumours. Do many players who say that during the season end up staying with their original clubs?

I’m also worried about the possibility of him going to freo

Can’t remember his exact response to a freo caller’s question about whether he would ever consider playing for freo , but it was something along the lines of “I haven’t considered it yet . I love playing for West Coast”. One radio host highlighted the “yet” , but Gov wasn’t pushed to elaborate because another host pointed out that his dad played for freo (Gov replied to that ) and then asked if any player had ever moved from the eagles to freo or vice versa

The problem is with Gaff and Lycett up for renewal there isn't going to be a bottomless pit of money for him. There are some footsoldiers to resign too.

Just because he holds out for more money doesn't mean he will leave unless he gets it. He may well be planning on staying with us but just wants to eke every last dollar he can get and is using these other offers to do so. We just won't know until he puts his name to paper somewhere.

Will back the club here, we've supported Gov for a long time, would have been several times early on he could have been delisted.
He has an offer from us, if some other clubs are happy to overpay to lure him then fine, earn as much as you can, good luck to him.

Nope. Draft night reaction and 1st press conference, he didn't appear remotely enthused compared to our other selections.
Unless he's the type who doesn't show much emotion I suppose.

He would have thought he was going somewhere else and was quite surprised.

When Nic nat was on the podcast last week he was so sure he was going to Melbourne and said WC didn't talk to him in the few days before the draft. Duggan and Venables also mentioned this as they were convinced they were going somewhere else.

Very true. It would get you being asked all the time...He even wore a hate saying no contract talks.
