Dons could do with a Fwd/Ruck.
Someone who could play #1 in place of TBC in the event of injury, but generally plays FF when TBC is in.
Josh Jenkins and 37 for Francis and your second?

Nah

If north finally manage to convince someone to go there by making them one of their highest paid with a 5 year contract why would port give them up easily

Port gave up 1sts and 2nds for Dixon and Ryder who were leaving their clubs no matter what. North would be desperate to land Polec.
North giving up a first for Polec is already massive overs.

Jenkins is averaging close to 2 goals per game this year - which is pretty good considering the season we have had and there have been very very few joe the goose goals. Our 3rd rounder is virtually and end of 2nd round. I would want more than Francis (who has played 1 game in what - 3 years?) + their second coming back

Well you're in luck then because we wouldn't want Jenkins. He's 30 next year, we can get the same output next year from a much younger James Stewart playing 2nd fiddle to Joe next year.

Going off your games/year matrix (which by the way is 5 in 2.5 years) Doedee had absolutely no value at the end of 2017??

Yes Francis has had his personal issues but there is no doubt he could be a special talent if he gets it all together. If you got him for a 2nd/3rd rounder you would be spruiking everywhere that you got him for a bargain based on potential alone.

I dont want to consider trading Francis....even if he asks, and leaves, and plays 200 games for Adelaide....
kid's gonna break my heart if he goes. Wishing him luck whatever happens though.

Surely Crows don't need defenders with Talia, Brown, Hartigan, Doedee, Kelly, Cheney and co on the list.
We don't have 2nd either. We have GWS' but that could be quite a late pick.

JJ would be good for us though.

We can't possibly entertain trading out JJ unless its going to make a definite and significant positive impact to our clubs future. We have pretty much made our bed now. With the re-signings of Lynch and Sloane (who each could have potentially got us picks to trade for Luko or Rankine) we have made a strategic decision that affects the next 5-10 years of our club. We are going for the flag in 2019. We will absolutely without question need JJ for that tilt. It makes no sense to trade him. The only way we should even consider trading him is if it directly results in us landing Luko or Rankine. Even then, I think it would be questionable. We have probably one last year with Eddie & Jacobs (may already be cooked) and Sloane, Gibbs, Tex, Lynch, etc arent getting any younger. Fogarty is not going to have the fitness to take JJ's role next season. Elliot Himmelberg doesn't look like he is going to be ready by 2019.

JJ is one of our players that will be hard to trade out and still genuinely take a shot at a flag.

Believe me, there were plenty that were calling for Doedee to be included in trades last year as no-one had seen him at AFL level. Point is that until that potential has shown itself, that is all it is and sure you might not want Jenkins, but my response to that hypothetical trade scenario is that Jenkins is proven and our pick 37 is Carlton's 3rd rounder which is basically an end of 2nd round. So the trade was a guy that plays FF and rucks and has kicked 250 odd goals in just under 7 seasons with the crows and was in a Grand final team as recent as last year for a guy that is potentially good but we don't really know and a swap picks to move up 8 or 9 places from the 3rd to the 2nd round. From our end - not good enough whether you regard jenkins or not - that is a dodoro special from your end

Stewart can't hold down ruck every week.

For the moment im happy with Stewart continuing his development and creating competition for spots.
JJ (or a similar fwd/ruck) @ FF as our backup ruck to TBC, along with Daniher and Stringer gives us some good depth and mobility in our fwd line.
We then have Stewart, McKernan and Brown as backups in the event of catastrophic injury (either to all 3 forwards, or TBC going down before Draper is ready).

Not keen to trade Francis unless he is adamant he wants to go though.
Nor can i see Adelaide trading JJ. Though Fog, Tex, Lynch, possibly Gov + Luko is a decent fwd line.

100% hear the point you're making but my point is I'm pretty sure we'd rather hang onto Francis for another year and hope his issues sort themselves out than give him up for a player who we would have for 1-2 years and wouldn't really improve anything apart from depth.

That is highly likely and I don't think the club would trade Jenkins anyway as he is contracted. The only way I see Francis leaving is if he tells the club he wants to move back to SA and then it comes down to what Dodoro wants as to what either port or the crows would offer...and we all know how Dodoro operates :-)

Shiel and Coniglio/Scully for #1, Graham and Kerridge

Edit: This wasn't very well thought out and based on rumours of the GWS players being disinterested

You can keep the pick one that trade is already too generous. I wonder could we also have Jed Lamb back for our 1st rounder?

We'll do it if you chuck in your future 4th round pick and our 1st round changes to next years

Key position players carry way more trade value than outside wingers, not the best comparison.

Hopefully it just forces Port to pay $650k x 4 for Polec.

Carlton trade:Pick 1
GCS trade: pick 2, 17
Carlton therefore don't have to make the tuff decision on drafting Lukoisus and instead can get a good midfielder like Sam Walsh to back up Crippa. They also get another first rounder

so saying this happened this is what the two teams have after the trade

GCS have: Pick 1 (Luko), 3 (Smith) (PP for Lynch)
Carlton have: Pick 2 (Walsh), 17, 19

Carlton could also trade pick 17 and 19 for North's pick so that the Kangaroos have more points to match a bid for Thomas

That would be a dream come true for Carlton fans. You get the 2 mids to back up Cripps and we would be a good chance for September footy next year. However, you are asking GWS to give up so much. I know they have money problems but they don't need to give up two of their best players. Especially for Lukosius who could be the next McCartin and Watts.

It’s certainly dreamland type stuff.

Shiel and Coniglio are both in their prime with 6-7 years left, they're are worth pick 1 alone + extras.
