I don't know if it would be much of a problem with our group. Whilst our onfield leadership is poor, it would seem our group dynamic is very good and being a bunch of choir boys they're not likely to be led astray by a known miscreant.
I think now with a stronger culture it would be more a case of Fit in or phark off for Harley.

Let's face it, for a guy with attitude and maturity issues, there's no two worse clubs he could have landed at than GC and Freo.

The leafy streets of the bayside area are so white collar middle class these days that it's dificult to find trouble even if you're looking for it, and his "mates" won't be around either.

The club could stick him in with p66 to keep him on the straight and narrow, educate him in dim sim etiquette and regale him with stories of grand finals lost..

Harley will be used to walking through empty cans and pizza boxes too, so there's some merit at least..

Amazing what a change in coaching does to list management. Newnes has gone from being Richo's first picked to all but delisted. The guy had NFI.

We will need another Ruckman with one our picks and I believe we should rookie Biggy as an NGA, rather than add him to the main list. Having said that I hope Sandringham are ahead of the curve this year and recruit to fill the holes in our/their list.

Mayo & Biggy will be the only true forwards playing at Sandi so the club needs to continue with the Joyce experiment forward or look at moving someone like Austin forward. Or as previously stated look at recruiting another tall forward.

Sandi will have plenty of small forwards to choose from, I would like to see Kent get really fit and tried as a midfielder.

I think if someone puts a bid on Biggy in the draft , we pretty much need to take him onto the main list.

is anyone across the SANFL? are there any big body inside mids there?

There was a player I have always liked since he played in the SA team alongside Scharenberg, Sam Colquhoun or how ever it's spelt. He was rookied to port I think but didn't last long. I think he lead disposals in the SANFL this year and averages over 29 possessions a game.

Partington is a good player and a couple of years younger too.

Can the more knowledgeable out there inform me; why have so many clubs stockpiled up on draft picks this year? There's only 5 rounds, but Port and Richmond have 8 picks, Brisbane, Freo, North and Hawthorn have 7, Adelaide, Essendon and GWS have 6. In most of these cases, the majority of the clubs' picks are at the end of the draft with us.

Is there going to be a lot of PASS-ing in the later rounds, or will they bundle those picks up and use them on stuff, or will most of them be used to pick up individual players?

I suppose my second question is: Does this mean that our pick 51 might actually be more like pick 41 by the time the names are called out?

I reckon we'll word up the other clubs that we're happy to trade that first in any favorable deal should they find themselves in need.
We'll keep a good eye on the top talant to see if we can snaffle a value slider like Kemp at 15, but there will be others too.
Failing that, we'll be hoping biggy falls past our first pick, although by then it hardly matters.

Our draft position isn't too bad within limited expectations.
We can upgrade a rookie with p100, and Biggy can also be taken with a no points pick because points can be syphoned from the future 4ths.

Having p51 and 4ths for live trading would potentially let us move up 10 or so places if we saw something we liked, but 51 is also tradeable for a future 3rd and a 5th round this year if there's nothing we like by then.

I could see something like a late 1st Kemp or other, Biggie p80, Wilkie p100.

2020 picks:
1x 2nd, 1x 3rd, 2x 4ths

We'll take Brownie or a mature ruckman as a rookie.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Libba's crew can spot talant pretty good, and Lethers, Gags and Gubby can swing a deal.

Can someone tell me how many current rookies we have

IMO if there is a player we like that is around later than his value eg: Kemp at 16, we should do something like a Carlton and trade our 2020 first.

I think even though next years draft will be compromised, its player standard is rated a lot higher than this year by the club and others.

Trying to find a smokey for us with a late pick, any chance we have a look at Flynn Perez? Another draftee coming off an ACL injury, but his 2018 form is right up there with the pair expected to go one & two.

I think we should try for Elijah Taylor. Around pick 45, looks very good. Trade a future 4th and 51 for 38 and 95. Then I’d use picks 82, 95 and our other 4th round to get 58 and pick Riley Garcia, that’s two very good kids.

Other option is if Melbourne refuse to move from pick 3 to 6 we trade our future 1st for pick 6.
We select Kemp.

That gives us Kemp, (at 6) Taylor, (at 38) and Garcia, (at 58) that’s a very good hand.

Ajang is one i would be keen on ... really raw talent and fantastic athletisim as STCi mentioned has a bit of mongrel about him as well not afraid to get dirty ... he would be a fair way off AFL standard but would be heaps closer to than Alabakis is to playing AFL level ...

i kind of think we might see some over agers come in .. we have late picks and the draft doesnt bat deep from my reckoning so maybe one of those "cant believe he's stil playing VFL/WAFL/SANFL " types finally get their shot ... looking at the Subi WAFL squad i reckn theres at least 3 guys in there who could come in and make AFL level as a short term option
If our Recruiters go with over Agers which is a good chance, i think we will swap Pick 51 for an extra pick.
I dont think Brisbane or Richmond will use all their Available picks after the Season they have just had.
So P51 swap with Lions could give us their Picks 55 &72.
While Tigers could give us Picks 56 &75.
They are late picks, but we can get an extra Player/Pick

I like that but how would GWS get Greene? I know they can use points this year and dig into next year's but would they have to use their first or can they make it up with later picks next year? I'm not sure on the rules.

Also, we would have to get a 2nd back next year before we can use next year's first (this is the issue with constantly selling future picks)

Also also, I'm not sure we are allowed to trade back in a pick we have previously traded out. I heard something on the transistor that you can't do that. I may have heard that wrong though

Other than that, i like it :D

On your first point, was out last night with a Dees supporter, safe to say not overly rapt with the Richo appointment.

On your last, I’m pretty sure Kent said, when moving over, that he was expecting to play more time as a mid, so hopefully you’re right. Was a very unfortunate injury he got.

Gringo , these are the sort of guys that should be given a go , they have had a few years to mature playing against older players and once in the squad you would know within a year if they would make the cut or not.
It's a better pick than getting some 18yr in the draft who you pick up in the 4th round.
Wilkie , Parker , Hind are fine examples - they might not all cut it but they will show a bit more than some of the guys that will be picked up in the draft.

Except that Melbourne wouldn't do that trade.
We also need to upgrade our Irishman and Dinglands maybe, and take Biggie, whilst they've also stated they want Brownie to stay on and we need another young ruckman.

I'm betting it's something like:
1× value pick draftee
1× Biggie
2× Rookie upgrades

1× Rookie
1× Brownie

It depends where someone bids on Biggy.

What's the bet Freo does just to be assholes.

Yep.
The good thing is he's surplus to needs right now so if it's a top 20 bid then thay can have him.

I want to see us trade that 3rd and future 1st round pick and grab a top 15 kid, then it doesn't matter since we can get Biggie with p80 and shift the remaining balance into next year.

Lets say picks 15 and 70 odd, and a F2nd in, for our F1st, 51, F4th. Something like that anyway.

If it’s true we rate next year better than this then I hope we don’t

Depends entirely on the club's opinion of that, and who's and getable this draft, and where they think we'll finish.
I thought that future 1st was being kept for Bing, but if that's not happening then it's fair game.
