They can ask all they like..... do you think the AFL will do it to spite us, do you really think that
The AFL does not give a stuff about the real interstate clubs. That Carlton don't have pick 2 works fantastically well for their narrative as they won't be harming a struggling Vic club if they did award the pick to their failing project team. They could easily have awarded one last year after GC were obliterated with players leaving but held fire..now that the club is squealing to the AFL for a priority pick - not an end of round pick, not more mature age players..A TOP END PRIORITY PICK, what do you think is going to happen.

Edit: The argument that our club and the other clubs have to be putting to the AFL here to counter this is that another top end pick will make no real difference to the performances next year or maybe not even the year after and in the meantime the club could still bleed youngsters. They need to have a couple of senior players the AFL can pay out of the salary cap to, to move up there to help. Heck, if it meant we lost Jenkins to them for nothing as part of a drive to get some big bodied senior players there to protect the top 2 pick we are in line for I would wear it if it looks like the top 2 are that good

tin foil hat..mate wake up and smell the wind..we are about to get bumped in the draft order - but if you can't see that all power to you eh
You claimed it was because the AFL had it in for us, you then claimed "The AFL couldn't care less about interstate clubs"

Where's the Gold Coast again......

Your own link's author made the point, "Another pick in the latter stages of the first round would certainly help down the track, with plenty of lively draft prospects available in the teens. " This means even he understands that a priority pick means end of first round.

Yet you've taken the baton and ran right off the tracks with "The AFL are going to screw us, the Suns are getting pick 1 and 2".

If you can't understand why you're being asked to remove the tin-foil hat, then I don't know what to say.

what is the gold coast..an AFL construct that the AFL is going to bend over to help. What are we - a team that paid top wack to join the AFL, been hit hard at every turn when the opportunity presented - see Rendell, see Tippett - see Bailey..

Suns chairman Tony Cochrane on Monday told AFL.com.au that it was time to "circuit-break" his club's inability to compete for finals since it joined the AFL in 2011.

"We have been doing a very detailed report, and we hope to finalise that for our July board meeting, and then I'm going to make a submission to the August Commission meeting," Cochrane said.

"We are past the stage where we say, 'We will give you a couple of players from the VFL or SANFL or WAFL', it has to be something that breaks the cycle.

"You can't keep tinkering at the edges. You need to give clubs hope of making finals at least once every seven or eight years, and we need a circuit breaker, genuine player assistance, or we are not being genuine in what we are doing.

"One of the things we will have to have a serious look at is the priority pick – it is no good just giving us pick 19.

"Are you serious about real help, or not? I will become a 6000-pound gorilla on this. We are at the pointy end of the argument, we need some proper assistance, and I'm not asking for Tony Cochrane, or the Suns, but the tens of thousands of juniors playing the games on the Coast.

Sorry - now who needs to take off the tin foil hat because it certainly is not me..or do you want to play make believe and not listen to what Cochrane is lobbying the AFL for

I'll give you Rendell, Tippo we deserved and Bailey was us being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If you honestly think they'd do it because it's us, you need to rethink your position.

Will it be annoying ?? Slightly yes, however it gives us pick 3....

Do you understand what a tinfoil hat is ??

Not everyone is out to get us, in fact if they were we would have been smashed for Campgate.

Tin-foil hat or no, the Chairman of Suns is putting together a report to present to the AFL Commission to ask for Pick 1 as a PP. Ring the alarm.

We need to get Eddie involved. He runs the AFL. GC are likely to get what they wish. Where's our compo for loosing pick 2 if this happens.

It does give us pick 3..but if the top 2 players are markedly better than the next handful, we have missed out not because of anything else than AFL manipulation. You might be right - we might just continually be the victims of bad luck rather than being targeted harder than other clubs by the AFL

I’m sure I’ve read an article saying before Adelaide employed bailey, we asked the AFL about the Melbourne tanking chatter and whether there would be any possibility of him being penalized. The AFL assures us nothing would come of it.

We weren’t in the wrong place at the wrong time, the AFL just didn’t care.

smashed for campgate? how so considering no rules were breached? What you are arguing is that every time we have copped it from the AFL, that we have received nothing more than what the next club would have got...now remind me again how what Carlton did with Chris Judd was any less bad than what we did with Tippett in terms of 3rd party payments (and remember ours never breached the total salary cap). Dean bailey was an assistant with our club at the time the AFL deemed Melbourne tanked - so they knew by suspending Bailey it would hurt us so why no compensation for that? Also, what sort of draft sanctions did melbourne get? did they lose any picks..thought not.

I have no doubt that if Carlton still held pick 2, then there would be very little chance that the Suns get a pick 1 as a priority pick... the fact we now hold 2 makes me more than a little nervous the AFL will submit to the Suns demands.

Had a look at the Lions H&A season so far, had they not choked to CarLOLton and Freo last kick of the game, they would be coming equal 1st on the ladder.

They are a real smokey for this year's flag. Their one loss to a Top 8 side is the Pies who's form has since definitely dipped.
And yet we lost by one kick to them on their home ground after we played shit for 3 and a half qtrs. Footy’s a strange game. We get smashed by Port and suddenly we’re the worst team in the comp again, with the worst coaches, the worst admin, the worst players and the worst recruiting dept. This board is entertaining to the max.

We are not the worst. But I do have concerns.

Losing is fine and happens to all teams. But getting beaten by Port in that manner was bad. Also the fact that the finals are a couple of months of away, there is a number of issues that need to be addressed such as selection, our forward structure and game plan.

Probably going to be hammered from pillar to post for this, but I actually dont rate any of our wins this season at all. Our best win was against GWS and they are at times are a poor traveling side. Port have had some solid wins this season, namely Eagles, Cats and us if you or others rate us as a Club.

We will make the finals but I dont see us getting beyond at most Week 2 and thats being optimistic too.

You think we weren’t smashed for campgate? Jesus, the AFL sat back and watched the media savage us the entire year, even after their investigation which found little untoward about the camp. Don’t think that had no effect on our entire club. By doing **** all about it the AFL was certainly complicit in the media shitfest that was certainly damaging our club. **** the AFL.

Keep in mind what portion of that was self-inflicted by some of the most incompetent, spineless people involved in our club.

Did we receive a sanction ??
