AFLPA are pushing for the MRO to be appointed with the task of revising the AFL illicit drugs policy. Based on their most recent lettuce leaf penalty of Ben Cunnington, the AFLPA believe the 5 strikes before sent to the tribunal approach is going to be great for players confidentiality and mental health

Seriously, WTF! Fines don't work!

Little-known clause puts serial offender on Tribunal tightrope - http://m.afl.com.au/news/2019-07-08/littleknown-clause-puts-serial-offender-on-tribunal-tightrope

Suns chairman Tony Cochrane on Monday told AFL.com.au that it was time to "circuit-break" his club's inability to compete for finals since it joined the AFL in 2011.

"We have been doing a very detailed report, and we hope to finalise that for our July board meeting, and then I'm going to make a submission to the August Commission meeting," Cochrane said.

"We are past the stage where we say, 'We will give you a couple of players from the VFL or SANFL or WAFL', it has to be something that breaks the cycle.

"You can't keep tinkering at the edges. You need to give clubs hope of making finals at least once every seven or eight years, and we need a circuit breaker, genuine player assistance, or we are not being genuine in what we are doing.

"One of the things we will have to have a serious look at is the priority pick – it is no good just giving us pick 19.

"Are you serious about real help, or not? I will become a 6000-pound gorilla on this. We are at the pointy end of the argument, we need some proper assistance, and I'm not asking for Tony Cochrane, or the Suns, but the tens of thousands of juniors playing the games on the Coast.

Sorry - now who needs to take off the tin foil hat because it certainly is not me..or do you want to play make believe and not listen to what Cochrane is lobbying the AFL for
Maybe the AFL shouldn't have facilitated the Ablett trade!

How to stop the cycle for GC?

Give them an extra $2m salary cap (Cost Of Crapness Allowance)
Tell them they HAVE to trade their next 3 first rd picks for players. They'd then get 3 stars which will lift their performance.

We better not lose to the Suns - it should almost be scientifically impossible for us to lose

Given how often a team seems to pull a win out of their arse when the media starts to really hammer them, I reckon the Bombers will be the most likely victim of a single-week effort from the Suns.

So the AFL are going to gift the Suns a pre-draft priority pick! There’s a surprise!! You better believe it. Today was the start of the conditioning process. By the end of the season it will be accepted that it’s happening. Just a coincidence that we’re going to have a top 2 pick in a 2 stand out player draft!

****in AFL is a joke. No such thing as a coincidence in a fabricated world.

The Suns have requested one but that doesn't mean they'll be given one. Carlton asked for one last year but were knocked back. They'll most likely receive an end of first round PP and access to the state league again.

They're softening the earth.

Watch the AFL do it, and then justify it because it won't disadvantage another struggling team.

It’s exactly the kind of make things up as we go along maneuver they love so much.
Could we go the AFL for compensation saying that is we knew the AFL were going to compromise the draft pick we worked so hard to get that we would not have done the trade..they can give us a back of 1st round pick as compensation for our 'loss' in last years draft

They should get access to mature age players who can make a difference, and a salary cap increase so they can trade over a mercenary that can play.
I said it before but think they should be made to trade their first few draft picks over the next few years for established players

Experienced players have the choice not to go there, draft picks don’t.

Correct..but lets say we offer Tex Walker $700 K for 3 years and the Suns can offer him with AFL assistance outside the cap say $1.6 Million for 3 years..what do you think is going to happen under that type of scenario

Hence give them extra cap space for a few years til they are competitive to enable them to attract quality experienced players.

Cap space is more important than extra picks.

They won’t be able to give the Suns one without giving one to Carlton as well... Carlton will sook like there is no tomorrow after getting knocked back last year..
If Carlton beat the Suns and Saints, which gives them 5 wins, then they won't get one.

I would give Gold Coast the ability to sign any uncontracted player in the league without trading, regardless of whether they are a free agent or not.

They could only use this ability once and the player they choose will receive an additional $1m a year from the AFL in a Queensland ambassadorial role

The flow on from something like that certainly would be interesting. If guys like Coniglio had already decided on their move to a Victorian club but can't do anything about it until the end of the year would they re-sign with their current club for less to avoid going to the Suns ??
