Correct, but he knows he has a long term contract. So he will look for change around him over a number of years to get to where he wants to go. It's then on the club to deliver. With how this year is looking like playing out and how the pressure will ramp up on him, it will likely be make or break next year and his demands this off-season should be a hell of a lot stronger. If the club fails to deliver what he wants or needs he will know he did all he could with what he had and the club failed him.
If he hasn’t got what he wants by now he’s never getting it.
He also comes across as very uninspiring.

Did you see it?
He couldn’t take it over without the risk of being penalised as he wasn’t under direct pressure.
He did dispose of it, he kicked it.
The goal umpire just stuffed up he made the decision it had crossed the line by calling it a point then decided he wasn’t sure and a review occurred.
Did the goal umpire signal? I seemed to me the field umpire assumed it crossed and blew the whistle. Which makes the whole thing even more strange.

That’s keeping his cards close to his chest via the media.

Pyke is no dummy away from the footy field. He was very successful before coming back to coaching.

I don’t think he’s stupid. But being smart is completely different to being motivating.

That I’m not sure about. Either way it was an odd situation.

I think the level of motivation comes back to the assistant coaches. They spent far more time with the players than pyke does and he can only do so much.

I don’t think he has lost the players, but I think the line and assistant coaches have.

I've been prepared to accept that just like the players do, the coaching staff have contracts. They wouldn't all just be on revolving 12 month contracts. And with how money focussed our club can be, they wouldn't want to be paying out coaching contracts and going over the soft cap and incurring the associated tax. So the changes that we have wanted to see and the changes he wanted may still occur, it's just that other factors have prevented them happening to this point. As for Pyke not being inspiring, I think he is very calm, calculating and process driven which in modern day professional sport is much more likely to deliver succes rather than the huff and puff, rile them up Hinkley style of coach.

So Hinkley is whinging about when Clurey didn’t cross the line for a point, the umpire called a point and it was reversed. They then had a stoppage where they conceded a goal.

Two things, why didnt Clurey cross the line, second he should have been called to holding the ball seeing he made no attempt to get rid of the ball and it was still in play. Plus even then if it was a ball up the stoppage would have occurred anyway.
Clurey played on and ran off with the ball, handballed to a team mate. No one was tackling him

Yeah the goal umpire signalled. Started tapping his chest and the umpire stopped play.

Glitch in the rules.

Our rivalry with Port should extend to which team can be the shittest. I firmly believe we're winning that at the moment. Close, but winning nevertheless. If either team makes the 8, they'll be playing a huge Melbourne club I'd expect, in the elimination final.

To decide which team would win the "Who is the shittest team?" trophy, I think the answer, is the answer to the question "Which of the two SA teams could actually fluke having a good on day, and have a win in the elimination final?"

Port. Port are the only team of the two that'd be able to pull something out of it's clacker and completely fluke a finals win.

So Crows are winning the "we're shitter than you" premiership Port. Sucked in losers.

For future reference - probably should be that the guy with the ball gets the ball back in the square to be treated like a kick in. It's fair that way in that the other team has time to set up for a rebound and the team with the ball still has an opportunity to clear the ball away from the square at least.

27k on a completely dry Saturday night is telling

I wonder how many years it will take before sub 25k crowds become the norm for them?

The novelty has clearly started to wear off Adelaide Oval and their crowds are down 9k from 2014.

I don't think it will get back to 12k-14k like it was during the tarp years, but I think it will continue to drop over the next five years and we'll see very few 40k crowds for them (outside of Showdowns) and more sub 30k crowds.
So much for game day experience getting them there if they are not winning games.

I’m firmly in the keep Pyke camp but sack the rest with a massive clean out.

However, a strong leader gets what they want. They have the loudest voice, they stand up for what their core beliefs are, they gain positive attention by making strong choices in what is part of their team.

If the rumors are true and Pyke didn’t want any or some of the the current assistant coaches and just accepted them without putting up a fight, that isn’t showing strong leadership. That’s being a submissive leader and authority would be brought into question. They players then know he isn’t a strong leader, he isn’t the alpha dog in the room and they don’t have to listen to him when things get tough.

By not having the courage to fight back over the appointments had shown he won’t stand up and lead when things get tough. The chain of command is broken.

We need an alpha dog leader. Blight was an alpha dog. Graham Cornes was an alpha dog. Pyke needs to stand up right now and demand positive changes are made to his team or he should be sacked with the rest of them.
I agree with this but our club ain't appointing an alpha dog. They'll appoint another yes man.

We were just very lucky Blight was the ultimate alpha dog from way back in the SANFL days but I tend to agree.

Mattner and Godden were only appointed this year. Now I can't speak for Mattner but Godden is very much a structure type of coach - he did it at WWT for his coaching tenure and was one of the reasons they couldn't adjust in final series. Successful, yes getting to finals but after that, not so much.

Campo and Hart I can agree with and that is the problem right there. Campo was the midfield coach (now game day strategist - massive fail at the moment) and Hart has NFI.

Can the kids move the pine bark while you two drink beer?

Win/win

We need a win of any sort
I don’t drink beer and the kids can’t even pack up a few toys without completely melting.
