Today's effort. Going for value in defence and will try to upgrade this line first. I'm a fan of this midfield piggery setup, although it lacks a genuine perma-captain without Macrae in there. Goldy and Witts have been in a lot of my drafts so far. Forward line is essentially midfielders, and it could be argued that Devon's price is a bit high with questions over how much impact Shiel will have to their midfield. 30k in the bank.

Love the defence outside Milera, Love the midfield outside Rockliff, love the Ruck set up.

Your issue will be the success of Parfitt, Worpel, Rocky and Milera. I think categorically Rocky will not be a good pick, in order to balance out your side i'd drop Rocky to Walsh and upgrade Willem Drew to a better forward.

As for Milera, Parfitt and Worps they're judgement calls. Could do well and could burn you. Personally Milera-B.Smith and Parfitt-Dev Smith would be a better look in my eyes but that's just me.

Fair call i reckon too. JLT form will dictate how i roll into the season.

My wife is participating in AF for the first time this year. Thoughts on her current side?

Still making adjustments and has 200k in the bank to spend.

D: Lloyd, Newman, Z.Williams, Williamson, Collins, Goddard (??)
M: Cripps, Oliver, Zerrett, Steele, Viney, Andy Brayshaw, Walsh, Stocker (Gibbons, Bewley)
R: Grundy, Goldstein (Fort, Xerri)
F: Dangerfield, Dunkley, Heeney, Setterfield, Cavarra, Parker (??)

Quite unique and really well put together side! Really like it. Good luck to you in 2019 you might need it! ;)

After a little bit of reading and research i'm starting to feel pretty settled with my side.
I'm not really going with the top 3 in each line but rather go for value.
The players in my side i think can improve their average between 10-25 points per game.
A little bit of risk which will pay off if all goes well otherwise I can use my trades to swap for bolters if they don't work out.

T williamson - interupted pre-season and Corbett has a knee injury - need to monitor these two.

Current team i am rolling with and pretty happy with it at the moment, first time all year Coniglio has been in my team but it looks stronger with him in the midfield.

Rock solid team. Feel like you're gambling heavily in the middle with going both JOM and Taranto but personally I think they are almost no brainers to up their scoring - just not sure I have the balls to start with either.

Lots of Hawks players - few questions then:
Worpel will play predominately midfield?
Scrimshaw looking likely to line up Round 1? In Birchall's spot I presume?
Will Wingard have a similar role with you guys that he has had with Port? Or more full time mid?

I feel like everyone is talking about all this midfield time being available at the Hawks after Titchell has gone down. It's as if every player who has the ability to play in the middle has been earmarked for more midfield time (Wingard, Worpel, Jones, Cousins .etc.) but realistically how many of them will actually get it is the question I can't seem to get a straight answer for. I know you said earlier that it was Cousins spot to lose but will all these guys kind of take on more mid responsibility and it likely be shared or is it more chance of going to 1-2 players, at least initially?

Cheers mate

Worpel will 100% be predominately a midfielder, he got more and more mid time at the back end of last year as he was running out games and his scoring improved drastically because of it.
Scrimshaw is touch and go for round 1, with Birch confirmed out and Burton traded last year he has a spot if he can take it but until JLT it is impossible to know for sure. Main reason i have him at the moment is because it is easier to trade down to a cheaper option if he doesn't get picked.
I predict Wingard will get more mid minutes at Hawthorn but it won't be as a full time mid. Probably closer to 60-40 (as a mid) if i had to guess and i think that will have him as a top 6 forward at the end of the year.

On the last question i think it will have to be shared. One of Cousins or Jones will be the replacement but the other won't play and they will not be able to play 90% game time as a mid and that is where the Worpel and Wingard types will get some extra center bounce attendances.

Hi all,

Haven’t played dream team in a few years and thought ai would get back into it this year. Initial team is as follows, all rookies subject to JLT form. Be good to get some feedback:

Whitfield, K Simpson, Witherden, Collins, Scrimshaw, Logue
(Goddard, Eagles)

Coniglio, P Cripps, Treloar, Z Merret, S Walsh, I Hill, N Hind, B Bewley
(C Constable, M Gibbons)

Grundy, Gawn
(Z Clarke, Xerri)

D Smith, P Dangerfield, C Petracca, W Setterfield, I Rankine, B Cavarra
(Corbett, Petruccelle)

Another fun build. Not gonna screenshot this one as it probably won't be staying, haha

DEF: Witherden, Newman, Mills, Williams, Hanley, Jones (Hore, Burgess)

MID: Brayshaw, Zerrett, Adams, Taranto, Rocky, Brouch, Miles, Bewley (Atkins, Hind)

RUC: Grundy, English (Fort, Sweet)

FWD: Danger, Mundy, Worpel, Cerra, Setterfield, Drew (Parker, Cavarra)

61K remaining

(Setterfield can go to Petrucelle if I want an extra 80K for Taranto to go to Cripps/Cogs/Kelly/Treloar etc.)

EDIT: Just took out Rocky, Hanley & Burgess and brought in Cripps, Duursma and Logue (Literally 0 remaining, haha)

First completed team

D: Lloyd, Witherden, Sicily, Z Williams, B Smith, Williamson
M: Brayshaw, Zerrett, Adams, Martin, Crouch, Miles, Walsh, Duursma
R: Grundy, Jacobs
F: Dangerfield, Heeney, Setterfield, Rozee, Cavarra, Corbett

91k remaining.

Forward line is risky so will probably transition one of the other midpricers (currently have 2 def, 2 mid) into the forward line and an extra rookie in one of those lines. Will see how the rookies shape up.
