Article featuring Tom Cutler looking at Victorian clubs... But good news regarding Matt Eagles, looks like we will be able to retain him as a cat b

Reading the article, it sounds like Cutler has been offered a contract, but is looking at his options.

Is that the way others read it?

Yes.

Numerous times by the Lions throughout the year. He has obviously had his head somewhere else, makes sense the Lions didn't play him as much.

So our B&F is Saturday night, expect announcements Monday morning at the latest - Cutler, Robinson, Taylor to be traded on rumours so far. With 2 being traded in (at least) and 3 drafted there is still some movements. I'm still thinking we will get a younger ruckman somewhere in this, maybe the rookie draft.

*Robertson . Please don't do that to me

I wonder if another club selects Matty Eagles can they list him as a category B rookie as well or just us.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else picked him up as depth, the Suns a good chance IMO.

Not according to their fans. Any talk of picking up our de-listings/ fringe players is laughable according to their board. Mind you that's the pretty standard response isn't it. 'Why would we want your spuds, etc..?'

Accept Eagles isn’t a spud he’s just stuck behind Andrews, Gardiner Adams. He’s shown he can play at grade as well.

I'm frustrated with the Cutler situation. I really feel we are losing one here. The guy can play. We have seen some very good football from him already. Regardless he doesn't fit our plans and I think that has been made pretty clear to him this year. I'm frustrated for him and really hope to see him get a good run somewhere else. Best of luck to you Tom, just don't tear us a new one when we play you next!

Oh I agree completely. I just jumped on their board when news of the extended rookie list broke and suggested they might come sniffing around guys like Basti, Eagles, Walker, Keays, Lester etc.... Did not go down well... Haha

Not sure why the club want him to remain Cat B because you can’t even play him unless there is a LOng term injury.
I know list spots are tight and I guess we have Payne in the wings but I would prefer him just on the Cat A list so you can play him if required.

I wouldn’t sign Eagles if I were the Suns. I don’t think he’s quite at the required standard and they’ve already got a couple of “nearly good enough” tall defenders.

Probably about as well as the Post and other talks that went down on here when we were down the bottom of the ladder. Fairly accurately as well.

Cutler looks more than likely to be the next Karnezis, rather than Crisp IMO.
I think Crisp had just started to show glimpses of what he was capable of , cutler on the other hand has already shown what he is capable of and just needs a team to get him back there.
Would be a little surprised if he turned out like karnesis.
Cutler has pace , big penetrating kick , evasive running, downside was maybe his inability to listen to what was required or simply couldn't follow team structures, who knows.
Tbh I'll be pissed if he goes somewhere else and blossoms like Crisp did.

I would suggest it means the team doesn't see him likely to play AFL. Given Cat A is just an extension of the senior list these days, the fact that we're not promoting him also means it doesn't really make sense to move him to Cat A as you're not really gaining anything.

IMO they would rather keep him as Cat B because he's a valuable NEAFL presence in a team that's probably going to be stripped of some of its more mature bodies in our delistings. Moving him to Cat A or the senior list has a much higher opportunity cost.
