For me there’s no reason to trade next years first.

Though this draft has a clear top 5, the talent available next year looks way above what is available this year. Others might disagree but I feel this draft will be a weaker one (with a few diamonds late due to COVID).

Even if we could get one of the top 5 for next years first I wouldn’t do it. Not worth it I feel. Even for Phillips (who I want badly). Too many question marks on the top talent this year to pull the trigger. As for outside of that there’ll be better talent with a lot more certainty next year.

I would do 4, 21 and 40 for Essendon 6 and 8. That is about 40 extra points going to Essendon in the deal.

That gives us 6, 8, 43, 59. Gives us 2 top 10's and Downie around the mid 20's.

Gives Essendon 4, 7, 21, 40, 41.

That looks a win for both teams.
Essendon don’t do wins for both Clubs !!!

So, who in the current top 10 would trade with us?
As a direct swap, I’d reckon Essendon, Adelaide at 9 and Giants would jump at it. It’s likely a top 6 pick in a more visible and less compromised draft. And, whether shared by all clubs or not (we will soon see), there is a perception that the top 5 in this years draft is ahead of the rest

Half the board was. people saying other clubs didnt have him top 20. Was an inspired pick

Which suggests this board is generally more interested in phantom drafts and watching a few highlights than actually watching games.

Either way, if you just looked at highlights you could see that Day was the best two sided player in the draft.

Horne, Sinn, Sonse.

YouTube their highlights.

Horne moves like Gaz.

Without trying to sound all doom and gloom I feel that the bottom teams next year (in no particular order) will include Adelaide, Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn and North Melbourne.

It'd be pure madness to trade out a pick that early in what is meant to be a bumper draft.

We should be looking to trade into it (hello Collingwood) not out of it 😉

So, Adelaide's pick 9 likely becomes 12 in this draft. I'm not giving that up for our 2021 first rounder.

I don't think Collingwood will be so low, but I agree with the other teams mentioned.

Given what has transpired there over the last few weeks, the players that have left and how the players that remain would most likely be feeling, I have them finishing in the bottom 4-6 on the ladder.

Of course I could be wrong, but if we weren't talking to Collingwood about trading them Picks 4 and 24 in exchange for Picks 14, 16 and next year's first then I'd be genuinely surprised.

It was more what we need, our lack of Key Position Players that are good quality was a big reason why i chose DGB, even though i think he could be a really good mid, i dont know if Clarko is interested in changing up our midfield group of T.Mitchell, JOM, Worpel and Shiels? and other than Frost our talls could use upgrades imo
I chose DGB too but for the sole reason I didn't want to jinx us getting Hollands… not that I'm superstitious or anything (LOL). DGB is my 2nd choice so if that's the way it pans out then I'd be cool with that too :)

I hope its Phillips before Perkins.

However if we did rank Perkins that high I am encouraged by a few that know their stuff who have said "this kid could have the biggest ceiling of all the draft picks"

I get concerned on Phillips knee but if we manage to upgrade our pick 24, r could potentially take

Adelaide and North are an absolute certainty to finish last and second last - nothing surer
