Don’t be surprised if this is all apart of getting 2 top 5 picks.
Am I reading you correctly in that you are saying we are going after Norths pick 2 but also keeping pick 5? If so then you'd think that at a minimum that would entail us giving up our 2021 1st and pick 24. Grabbing McDonald and Phillips or another mid would be bloody tempting but I think I'd rather stay with pick 5 and see who drops to us.

If it rolls this way I reckon it the absolute best result for us, although I think unlikely. Logan McDonald looks like being a star and just what we need up forward.

I have a funny feeling that, assuming McDonald is gone by 4/5, we pull a surprise in either Cox (more likely) or Perkins.

Don't know who Adelaide will take, but they wont bid on JUH. They'll want the hype of a #1.

* through Dildo, will no doubt bid on Campbell at 6 (or their first pick) if he is still there, just to campaigners to Sydney.

Well shielding according to the 20m sprint Nick Riewoldt is quicker than Will Phillips. Will Phillips can accelerate much faster than Riewoldt.

Anyway I haven't found anywhere N.Riewoldts is recorded. Shaun Burgoyne tested 2.97, Cyril was 2.96, Lewis Jetta was 2.95 all slower than Riewoldt.

Probably due to his longer legs. Also maybe Reiwoldt weighed much less back then?

If we can snaffle pick 2 and bid on Campbell, Swans may just decide to let him go and take DGB instead.

Campbell is one of the best kids in this draft but because he’s tied to the Swans he gets overlooked. Seriously reminds me of a young Buckley. Would love it if we moved up and secured him.

Does it concern you that he really wants to go to the Swans?

I'd love for us to get him - but I am a little worried about his go home factor.

I find it hilarious how people can be so sure about players who they’ve never seen play in a full game. Like, yes there are doubts about McDonald. But in a year where many of the alternatives haven’t even got on the park, here’s a guy who’s performed at a very high level in possibly the second best competition in the country, at the age of 18. But no, apparently he’s not good enough because he doesn’t have the attributes of Nick Riewoldt or highlights like Buddy Franklin.
Reminds me of how in the NBA Luka Doncic fell to pick 3 (and was traded to the team with pick 5), probably because teams didn’t take his performances in Europe seriously enough and because he didn’t have athleticism like LeBron. And now he’s clearly the best player in that draft (obviously Trae Young is incredible as well but Luka is a tier above atm)

Step 1 - bid on Campbell. Swans burn their pick.
Step 2 - take their tall
Step 3 - party
Cal says that Hawthorn "has ben strongly linked as a possible bidder for Campbell".
To me, this means that Hawks have told the Swans that they will bid on Campbell.

this trading with North is a worry because 1 of 2 things can happen

1) we make a responsible trade where we trade 4 and 24 for 2 and 30 (this is unlikely now that i think of it, because NM rejected 5 and 27 from GCS in trade week and we tend to over pay for everything that we dont get for free)

2) we give up 4 and 24 for 2 (which seems more likely as NM want something good for an upgrade and we always pay overs for what we want)

*personally, i would rather us keep 4, take the best talent available, trade up 24 into the teens and take 2 before Downie and then hope some quality in the 40's for a 4th.

*but if the trade happens it seems we go all in for McDonald, then get Downie, then get a couple of duds at the backend.....

which is the better strategy?

Well that depends, I don’t see us being able to trade in to the teens without using future picks with 24, not sure I want to do that.
If we think a Downie bid will come before 24 it may not be a bad option to use 24 to get to pick 2, especially if it is because we want Campbell.

No, because you back your club in to win him over and have him want to stay.

The other part is Swans will be forced to turn their back on him or match. So if he comes to us he would know Swans didn’t want him as badly as Hawks did.

If he came to us, and then wanted to go home in 2 years we get compensated by trade, at the least.

What about 4 and 24 for 2. Bid on Campbell. If we don't get him it wipes out Swans pick. Then trade 2 to Essendon for 6 & 7. Taking JUH out of the equation (let's assume he is pick 0) this means the order would be:
Ade 1 Thilthorpe
Ess 2 McDonald
NM 3 Hollands
GC 4 Phillips
Haw 5 DGB
Haw 6 Perkins

Edit: to include possible names

Hi all, obviously our board is also wildly speculating on the pick swap rumour as well.

Just for what it's worth, you can't include pick 24 in any trade to us as we traded it to you last year (and the AFL has some rule about picks going directly back to a club). Might be something simple like a future second winging back.

Reignite that rivalry too I reckon. It's gone a bit cold in the last few years.

it seems like we are willing to throw away pick 24 to upgrade to get McDonald, i dont know how i feel about that, because like i said, that means the picks in the 40's will be eaten by the Downie bid, then we have a couple late picks where we will only use 1 on a dud and then recruit another dud as a rookie, then have a few train with us, hopefully they're not duds, but knowing our recent history (minchington/brooksby) they will be duds too, im losing faith in the good judgement of our recruiters and list management team by the minute atm (especially since we were linked to a dud Taylor Duryea clone in Jack Avery, i seriously wanna rage at the stupidity of it all).... very black pilling, but at least we have 1 good player???

Our draft strategy may depend on how the clubs sees Jeka's future prospects, I suppose. Patton is 27, ML 23, Jeka 21. If the club thinks he is a player, maybe moving up for Campbell is part of one of several plans.

How about adding in a swap of future firsts to make it fair
