Looking forward to your melt when we pick Chapman xDI didn't use any, I just reused yours.
Chapman is a better midfielder than Carroll because he is taller and a better kick.
Tex is taller and a much better kick than Fyfe, therefore he must be a better midfielder than Fyfe.
If you don't like using Tex (because he is a forward) just insert any tall defender who is a better kick than Fyfe. Lynden Dunnwill do.PLAYERCARDSTART15Lynden Dunn

If you want my logic it goes like this.
Carroll actually has midfield runs on the board.
Chapman has none.
The most likely outcome is Carroll is a better midfielder than Chapman.
I'd say the latterAre we interested in Chapman because we believe he can play midfield? Or because we think he is the best footballer we can get?
Have you actually watched them? I'm not seeing better disposal although both seem good. Chapman shorter kicking from what I can tell, but I think we need better long kicking especially midfield. Chapman's primary strength seems to be intercept marks which is largely negated in the middle. Carroll at 188 has plenty of size and is young in this draft. He is taller and disposal is better is why lol.
Great news that Pearce, Hamling, Young and Logue are all on track for next year, but they are the main reason Chapman is being talked about as a midfielder. Are we interested in Chapman because we believe he can play midfield? Or because we think he is the best footballer we can get?
Whilst I agree - pick 27 was their normal second round pick. But good on Geelong for taking advantage. The only difficulty for us doing the same was that we only have three picks in 2021 and want to retain them. Geelong have a swag of 2021 picks due to trading out of this years draft. Ended up with 2 x 3rd round picks and 3 x 2nd round picks. 2021 picks are rated higher than this years picks and that 27 will prob drop to 32.AFL handing GC picks like that in a supposedly equalised comp now having unintended consequences. Who on earth passes at pick 27? They have basically handed that pick to Geelong for sweet f all. Geelong twice now have profited from GC getting ridiculous handouts. They should be paying for Alex Davies and Jeffrey like everyone else does and it would not be unfairly distorting the equilibrium of the draft. Unfortunately Gill will do anything for GC to win a flag.
Having watched both Chapman and Carroll at WAFL Colts this year I don't think there is much between them. Carroll was great on a wing as a bottom ager and dominated as an inside mid at Colts level this year. Chapman is no doubt rated higher because he is a bigger body still with great skills and athleticism so could play those taller roles Carroll couldn't. Both seem to have great characters and have leadership potential (which seems quite attractive to us in recent drafts).
Stuck in my mind is the game where Carroll tore Claremont a new one, dominating in congestion and kicking goals. I think East Freo might have made the Colts GF if Carroll wasn't injured - he was that important to their team. His balance of inside/outside and ability to kick goals would suit us. Having said that Chapman is a really good prospect as well - I'd be a little surprised if he was still available at our pick because he would impress other clubs plenty in interviews.
My money is on getting neither as well but because I think Chapman will be gone and I think we'll choose someone other than Carroll.I’d be happy with either. But there’s a high chance that we get neither.
Essendon loves Cox so I agree with that. Really unsure about Chapman. He said himself Freo hadn't spoken to him since earlier in the year so on one hand that might mean they are no longer interested, or just that they had little more to discuss at this time (pick 15 is not pick 7 - who knows who will be available by that point). Also, wonder about eastern states clubs wanting to pick him up when he plays such an important role with his brother and could be a classic go home when there are equivalent level players from Vic and SA that would be lower risk. But then you could argue Darcy has stayed when he was close with his brother with Down's who I'm sure would also love to have him around, so who knows. Personally think he could be the new Mundy starting as a half back that becomes a big mid and game winner. I would be happy if we took him.

I've seen Chapman play quite a few times live and his judgement and attack on the ball stood out and really elevated him above others on the field. Those traits are pretty transferable to the midfield.Have you actually watched them? I'm not seeing better disposal although both seem good. Chapman shorter kicking from what I can tell, but I think we need better long kicking especially midfield. Chapman's primary strength seems to be intercept marks which is largely negated in the middle. Carroll at 188 has plenty of size and is young in this draft.
Probably just more security for him. Especially as he's going to stay here and give it a go to get back on the list. I'd imagine if he gets a contract with Freo, it'd supersede the EF one. What does Hugh Dixonsigning with East Fremantle for 2021 mean for the Dockers. No longer a chance to be re-drafted or is it a way to get him fit?PLAYERCARDSTART41Hugh Dixon

East Freo’s Hugh-ge signing, more could follow
East Fremantle have bolstered their big man stocks with the signing of former Fremantle Dockers Hugh Dixon, with the club also in the mix for several other ex-AFL players.thewest.com.au
Have you also seen Carroll and ODriscoll? A bit of a range in terms of players, but if you were looking for a player to fit what Longmuir seems to be looking for with outside run, skill and transition capabilities, how would you rate them? Generally they all seem to be rated in a band which includes our first pick, but not clearly defined in terms of afl ranking.I've seen Chapman play quite a few times live and his judgement and attack on the ball stood out and really elevated him above others on the field. Those traits are pretty transferable to the midfield.
He's probably going to he be the best available at our pick, but I'd be surprised if our recruiters hadn't thought about ways to reduce the need for Fyfe in the midfield..Are we interested in Chapman because we believe he can play midfield? Or because we think he is the best footballer we can get?
I wonder if there’s a chance that Carroll or O’Driscoll slides to our second pick at all? We would get Chapman and Carroll/O’Driscoll too then. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking..Have you also seen Carroll and ODriscoll? I've probably seen games in which they've played, but took notice of WP more because a family member was playing (in the backline no less).Have you also seen Carroll and ODriscoll? Fun fact: "Valente" is the Portuguese word for Valiant.
Bugger the booze metaphors, personally I prefer the idea we already have one or two Rolls Royce midfielders out there, with a Valiant Charger muscle car still waiting in the garage.![]()
