So if im reading this correctly, we still need to cut a further 2 so we can draft 3 in the ND? Unless the AFL change that rule for this year...

Depends what the 'makey uppey' AFL come up with list cuts.

We should find out soon enough.

We upgraded Gibbons to the senior list which cancels out one of the required picks. I'm sure if they're cutting the list then they'll also reduce the number of picks required. We may only need to draft 1 player, perhaps try and save a decent pick (a 2nd or even a late first if we end up with one somehow) and get one good kid in (no long term project players or smokies)

Could Cuningham play in defence? Has he ever been tried there? If he can defend as well as using his natural speed to attack, he would be an real asset to the team. Should be tried in pre-season trials.
I would love us to try. I think he would have to be a defend first type, probably a lock down player as he would probably get lost abit trying to create too much from the backline and get hurt/lost.
He is also a handy user of the ball which is a big tick also

Wow. 4 off the list.
No big deal with the Cat B's though, as you could always have more than one, with some conditions attached.

That's going to shake up a lot should it come about.

Follow on effect could be no longer drafting any 'project' players that are likely to take 4+ years to develop...except maybe a ruck. Can't really afford to carry too many of these.

Strength & Conditioning / Medical also very important...smaller pool of players on the list so if you cop a bunch of injuries there's not as many to choose from and not as much depth. Teams who can have their best 22 on the park for longer will benefit more.

We've recruited talented but injury prone players in recent years like Marchbank but that probably needs to end.

Yeah your BSOS type players might have to come in through the rookie draft in their early 20's now.

Any other potential Cat B rookies out there? Non-Homesick Irishmen? No Fitzpatrickesque Rhodes scholars? No future Billy Slaters that want a less thuggish game?

The North board are simply besides themselves at he prospect of attaining Jack Silvagni.
Maybe they'll finally get their man. :) Fair to say they don't quite rate him the way some of us here do.

I would still take Stephen Silvagni then Sergio much further back to Jack and a distance to Ben if all 4 are available for next year

Here's one post

Strangely, we are very close to a premiership imo.

We are a star or 2, along with 2 or 3 solid citizens away.

- Williams imo is and will continue to be a star ✔
- Graham (hopefully we get him) I believe is better than a solid citizen ✔

If these 2 happen, we are close.

I'd chase Caldwell (becoming solid projecting to become a star)
Viney as a FA is a no brainer if we could talk him into coming.

Adding Charlie, Newman, Marchbank and Kemp to our available list greatly improved us.

Another small forward would be ideal also.

Need Dow and LOB to step up and we will have a very strong 2021 team.

Very positive about 2021

We are light on for defensive depth because Marchbank can't stay on the park. It seems foolish to let Macreadie go for nothing based on that.

So keep macreadie on the list because Marchbank cant stay on the park? How many games has macreadie played the last 3 years?

Well to be fair Jack hasnt shown alot and doesnt have a position. Solid 15-22 player. If he was from another club and not called silvagni no-one on here would rate him very highly

agree with you a lot here.

I believe and some people wont agree with me but i believe this is where our top players can be and what the best they can be is.

Cripps: top 3
walsh: top 10
curnow: All australian forward
mckay: all australian forward
weiters: all australian defender
doc: all australian defender
TDK: All australian ruckman
williams: top 50 player (plays like he did in pies prelim and hes AA)

These guys i feel will be stars of the club. Some already are.

Then we have guys like martin kemp setterfield SPS Fisher and Willo who i rate really highly.

I still feel like our backline hurts us. If we can get saad top 4 is a lock next year (assuming we are healthy)

Good to see its begun already

Round 23: Geez not much in the reserves to cover the 4 blokes who are playing crap
Off Season: We are a couple of players from being a premiership side
Round 1: Geez its so tough to make a round 1 side, we have so much depth.
Following rnd 1 loss to tigers: we are a rabble.

If he goes to Norf, Ill buy 1 less Blues membership in 2021 and direct that money into a norf membership; and I'll feel friggin great about doing it. Come at me.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer to get someone more durable in to replace them both. I found it ridiculous for the club to put out a video of Marchbank highlights saying we can expect to see two more years of that, when we haven't been seeing it for the last two.

I'm just saying that Macreadie has to be in the gun based on list numbers, whereas Moore as a rookie could have been culled already as he hasn't got any trade value, and if I had a choice I'd keep the constantly injured Macreadie instead of Moore who isn't a backman and we don't have the ability to carry that much forward depth with the reduction in numbers anyway.

What if Jack wants to go?
He's contracted and can dig his heels in, if he wants to.

If North offered him three years and we can't, what should we do? Just buckle in?
No....that's not how it works.

...and i'll consider donating an additional 2 Norf memberships just to consolidate my conscience. That's how it works,

I agree with macreadie over moore, it was just your reasoning for keeping him at all, to cover marchbank. They both see more of the rehab room than any other part of the club. Im not against keeping him as i recall he looked ok in his debut year (cant beleive that was 2017 and hasnt played a game since bar 1)

My only reasoning is that he is physically developed. May need someone developed in reserve, rather than a kid. If we can find another player with a couple of years in the system who won't cost much, then I'm fine with that too.

Yeah this talk of Jack going to North on a 3 year contract and us getting a token pick makes no sense. He is a contracted player who I would still have in our best 22 and North are keen enough to offer a 3 year deal but only a token pick?

If Jack is to go it is on our terms.

Jared polecon a wing anyone ?
but i think williams will wont that role maybe

Yeah, we've moved on to bigger things it seems. Williams is coming and we have bigger fish on the line as well.
