We already have one unaccountable winger who wont tackle. We dont need two.
Wouldn't mind seeing McGovern trialled playing full back. The forward experiment has not worked to date.

Id like to see McGovern trialled at another club. Maybe form of deal with North seeing as theyre hellbent on getting rid of Brown.

Gov ticks all the boxes to just play as an accountable defender, like Jones.

Tall, quick, strong, decent skills. His problem is he can't read the play for shit so can't find the footy down forward. He's the perfect candidate for a switch to defence and just follow his opponent around. Unfortunately we are so stacked back there he won't get a look in.

The only spot I see him taking is that medium defender spot that Plowman has. But Marchbank also has to come in so.. you can bet this experiment won't happen and this post is a waste of time basically.

No way Constable. We have Cripps and Setterfield.
Geelong don't play him for a reason and expect Stephens to surpass him soon enough.

If we took something we didn't need...I'd be very disappointed but....so far, so good.

I forgot about Lonie....Added.

Added Lonie

I'd have a look a Brander or Ballenden type. Forwards that can't break into their teams.
Ideally a disciplined, agile and versatile player
That’s hypocritical to the max. You as an outsider have no idea why GEE don’t play Constable, other than the obvious, the depth of their midfield in reality, YET, you want us to look at two players who ‘cant break into their team’ for some unknown reason, which you then presume is because of depth.

"Geelong don't play him for a reason" Dangerfield, Selwood, Duncan, Ablett & Stevens?

9 games in a career, 5 above 20 possessions including a 27 & a 31 - get him for very little, I wouldn't be dismissing him out of hand.

It's not out of hand. It's just that he isn't what we are looking for.
Geelong people see him as a one-dimensional player and many are already looking forward to Stephens.
Given Geelong are also looking for more mids, it may be a good time for Constable to look elsewhere.

I'd sooner O'Halloran from GWS, even though we don't need any ore young mids.
I feel Constable may well go down the path of Liam McBean or Spencer White. Hyped up and not much pop.

Again the CFC should be looking for speed and spread....not glaciers.

Hypocritical? What a silly term to use when discussing opinion.
I've stated my views.....my views.....Not hypocritical at all.....and I do read the Geelong board. Jesus!

This is somewhat representative:
CC will always have the problem that hes a very one dimensional player, unless you're playing for a side in the bottom 4 you aren't a permanent inside midfielder these days, needs more strings to his bow

Great retort. Powerful.

I would have said factual, but OK, powerful will do. :)
I watched Constable in his TAC year and wasn't as nearly impressed as many others.
He can find the ball alright, but unless he has space, it's all somewhat loopy and in slow motion.

Anyway, he's simply not what Carlton need.
Essendon should have a look and a couple of others, but I just feel that the faster game may find him out....maybe not. We'll see.

I see the CFC going by the way of speed and the first tick there was for the acquisition of Williams and I understand why we'd be looking at Saad, whether I like him or not. It's also why I don't want Witherden.

Didn't realise Wines, Merrett, Oliver, Graham & Viney had so much pace.

The fact it might be a good time for Constable to look elsewhere is exactly why I think we should be having a chat.

I am not saying he is my first choice but considering the Cats are great to deal with at the trade table, Constable would be a safer bet than a draft pick in the range we would have to give up and we may miss out on all the other mid-field trade targets I would definitely consider him.

Merrett has pace and Oliver is slippery and quick enough and both cover the ground well given their tanks.

Anyway, I'm not sure of the point. I've only listed players we've been aligned to and not who I want.
If we hear that the CFC are interested in Constable, I'll drop his name in. No problem :)

Just received a text that Balme is leaving the Tiges after this campaign. Heading to Adelaide possibly. 🤢

AFAIC, Balme is the only exception to my general rule; that nothing good ever comes from a direct or indirect Richmond descendant; other than the Morre kid who is already on our list of course. I wish he was at the Blues.

Tall, quick, strong, decent skills. His problem is he can't read the play for sh*t so can't find the footy down forward. He's the perfect candidate for a switch to defence and just follow his opponent around. Unfortunately we are so stacked back there he won't get a look in.

If he has the attributes like you say, which I agree, would he not be better than jones? He seems to have more composure than a Jones and when he gets the ball, he usually uses it well.

That is realistically chicken feed. If we/others were only going to offer him that much of an increase, he would stay at Richmond and try to continue having success.

The way you get these players out of successful clubs is by essentially offering them double or more what they are on / being offered and over a longer term than the incumbent club can do.

Say JG is being offered 200-250k for 2 years at the Tiges, clubs looking to shake him loose and in our position would be offering 400k-ish over 3-4 years with performance incentives. It's how Sydney got Josh Kennedy, Brisbane Linc McCarthy, St. Kilda Josh Bruce etc etc etc. Is as old as time.
I meant on top of whatever we have already offered him, which would be more than the Tigs 👍

if Mcgovern can be converted to be a defender, would make a great third tall with great leap, great long kick and very fast too.

I know what you're saying, but the net value may be a negative.

McGovern may well be a good backline player, but then what do we do with Plowman? Marchbank? Williamson?
There would be fallout and then what?

We have to keep value-adding....not standing still, or worse....go backwards.

Why would the club invest in Mcgov as they have only to send him to the backline? He is an excellent kick for goal and probably the best at the club.
I hope the club has a focus on getting him fit and stronger, then coach him and the team better, so they actually find him in the forward line. If that doesn't work, then cut him loose.
None of this sending him to the backline business, current crew back there are doing a great job and have earned their positions.

Fix our forward 50 entries then see what he can do. We give our forwards so little opportunity each time the ball heads in

Pity we have no available role and can't entice him over here.

Super operator, everything he touches turns to gold.
Just flicking through an amazing new Blues book and saw the man in question. No doubt about to punch the sideburns off Swan McKay. It’d be nice to have him on our side for once...
