It sounds like zac williams might be on a wing, so do we still need a running half back? im not so 100% sold on saad, is he an upgrade on williamson? Saad has speed but how is one on one defending?
Saad is ok at defending
His game style not a lot dissimilar to Doc....covers a lot of ground
Could go elite also in a good group

Newman Jones Plowman
Docherty Weitering Saad
Walsh Cripps Williamson
SPS Curnow Martin
TDK McKay Betts
Pittonet Williams Setterfield
Gibbons Ed Fisher Murphy

Here is how I see our set up with Saad and Williams.

Saad to push Williamson to the wing.
Newman coming back, will free up SPS to play a high HF.
Williams I think will be used as an inside mids to add speed out of the clearance.

IMO - I’d be using Cottrell back as well and we should have trialed that by now. I also regard Polson as another to keep developing but many here don’t, that’s fine as well. Time will reveal.
With our list, I don’t believe we need to waste time, picks on any more half back flankers, especially considering we now have Williams :). A Grade midfielders .......

If Polson is still on our list 2021, I'll spew up! ... Williamson is a potential gun in 2021. He played very well after a dreadful performance against Fremantle. The good thing about Saad is that he can drive the ball from half back or play in the back pocket. He'd be a valuable asset in our backline.

Tom Phillips on the wing, folks? Some questionable decision making at times but fantastic runner and competitor. Could be a contract victim at Collingwood and could be a solid pick up for 400-450k.

Definitely look at him if he's available.

Did drop off a bit in 2020, but he'd still be a very good recruit for us if Collingwood did entertain a trade.

Pick 45 should suffice on this one I reckon

That would be one of the steals of the trade period if that happened.

Not sure what his trade value would be. It could well be determined by Collingwood's TPP and whether they can afford to keep him or not.

I feel you on that one. I feel that their TPP may make our pick 45 more appealing and they may just do a goodwill move to get him to his club of choice. In reality his range is probably 30-35.

The /your list is very good
We should have pounced at Saad the first time 👍
Added strength to 2 very important areas
Easily a finals list
Easily .......go get em Russell 👍

Marchbank for Pittonet with TDK rucking and Jones supporting is the only change I would make to that.

Ya but clearly jsos isn’t killing it in that position. If marchy can become a bliclavs sort of swingman/utility wing/fw/back would give us great flexibility and add to our teams Gameplan
For sure, he definitely has the tools to do it. I feel with his injuries, relatively young age, and lack of game time of late though it would be more appropriate to give him some time to get his confidence up in one position again first.

Simmo was a poor decision maker by foot, so is Plow and Liam. Williamson has used his pace to break lines, SPS and Docherty haven't. We are a slow defensive unit. Saad is an elite defender as the stats suggest, top 10 in metres gained. There are other options which may be cheaper but lets not trash Saad's effectiveness because he plays for the scum. Dont want to see Williams played down back to fill a need Want him to be used as an offensive weapon in the midfield.
Ya talk about Simmo being a poor decision maker by foot, then talk up the past tense of Say. From what I've seen his disposal by foot ain't always that good.

What Ladder position have the two teams Saad has played for finished at the end of the season?
There's a reason for it, no-one up the field knows what he is going to do, including Saad himself

Yes, Saad is completely responsible for Gold Coast being a basket case and * being shit.

Re: Saad

If he stays at * we just play Newman.......
