If Sydney want to put talks on Papley back to the end of trade week, we should fu** right off.

Either it's done and done early, to both side's satisfaction, or they're going to try to be clever out of a desire to save face and/or have a bob both ways. Either he's leaving, or he's not; if he's not, let's not spend any time sinking further costs into what will never happen.

My message to them would be very ******* clear: we have all year. You have a choice: either he's leaving, and you want to work with us to accommodate an outcome you are content to take, or he's not and you're wasting our time. Do not waste our time, or we'll go discuss Ian Hill, Orazio Fantasia, Izak Rankine with their respective clubs. You are not in sole possession of a gamebreaking small forward.

From memory that was StK's response to Freo last year? Freo started playing hard ball and the 'Aints went and traded the pick that Freo really wanted initially. Still well and truly paid for him, but it felt like they were controlling the narrative...

I get a sickening feeling that the so called “all out assault“ to secure the Swans dude is going to end up with the Blues getting absolutely reamed.
Pretty sure the All Out Assault report was penned by the same fellow who brought us the future classic Harry McKay Leaves Training With Hamstring Injury

if you’re implying that its predomanteky journalistic embellishment; I hope you’re correct.
I personally hope that ship has sailed insofar as Blues are concerned; that he either stays at Sydney or goes elsewhere, anywhere. I hope they all beat the crap out of each-other.

As for the Sydney poster‘s wish of fair compo; late second rounder or GGF.

It is going to suck seeing Papley at Carlton next year. I just hope that if he still wants to go to your club (and I suspect he does) that both teams can get a fair deal for him.
I just hope he stays at Sydney or goes to Essendon in exchange for Daniher and your first round pick for the next 2 years. It’s about time Swans were exposed to a bit of inflation.

Offer a late second rounder and he will be going elsewhere. People rate the draft far too highly sometimes. You are most likely not going to get a player of Papley's quality for pick 30, or even pick 10.

With respect to the player, who is clearly talented, I think it’s best he went to Essendon; away from Sydney, to a side that really needs him more than we do. I also think Dodoro is well equipped to ensure Swans deal fairly.

What aspect of that post suggests that I’m intoxicated?

More so the run of short posts, sometimes without even waiting for another response.

And the suggestion that Essendon are in more need of a small forward than we are.

And the suggestion that we should offer a second rounder for Papley.

Respectfully, I think Papley is exactly the kind of workhorse small forward we need (would like to partner him with some more x-factor too), Essendon are in dire need of talls, not smalls, and a second rounder for Papley is miles off the mark (first plus second with change coming back would be OK, worst case two firsts with a very early second coming back). It's al opinion, of course, and I shouldn't be so dismissive of yours - just seemed very hyperbolic.

I think we'll need to offer our first round pick and some sort of steak-knives as part of the deal.

With the way we are travelling currently, we won't have a selection within the top 10 so would need to include a player like Matt Kennedy/Caleb Marchbank who are probably somewhat expendable (all things considered).

We have a difference of opinion.

I did decent job of expressing my thoughts on a footy matter in between responding to another and asking something of yet another regarding a non-footy matter.

I think Essendon do need him, and perhaps contentiously, I don’t subscribe to the anti Essendon sentiment; that should compel Stamos to go running to Apph requesting that I be carded.

I’ve enjoyed Eddies creativity, and am very happy for the club to afford opportunities to some of the younger blokes filling that hard running small forward role.

Because it was reported as so in the media?

Don't worry about what is being said and especially for what is being said now.
There's always going to be someone wanting to extract a story where there my not even be one.

Carlton after Papley? What a surprise :)

A top 10 pick should do it, but anything outside of the top 10 would probably require a bit more. Marchbank would be nice, though I doubt he would want to go back to Sydney. I think Papley's range is in the pick 5 to 10.

If I’m being honest, my reaction is likely underlying apprehension of what I perceive to be install for us post SOS. I’m shitting myself that we may get smashed like we used to.

If we gave you a top 10 pick I’d vomit profusely for 5 weeks, and then I’d swear vulgarities at the top of ma lungs. Please keep him.
