Pyke was right. We were too ******* slow. But maybe be we should trade to fix that?
Jarrod Berry's not slow and he can run all day when a lot of the mids are tonguing it in the last quarter.....and he's tough, real tough and has the size to back it up..

Their run home is fairly simple. I wouldn't be surprised all 5 and finish top 6.

They were thrashed by a depleted Swans side last week missing their best players, no game is a given for them anymore

Ladder says GWS dropped again and we have pick 8

I like it

Go Collingwood tomorrow, let’s get a buffer going
How Cameron got a contract extension is mystifying.

Imagine what a half decent coach could do with that list.

So it is rumoured the WA Government is willing to offer $35m to the AFL to host the GF as they expect by mid-October to be able to have a full house.

It is reported that ticket prices will be $800- $1500 or so - do the numbers 60,000 x say average $600 = $36m.

Seems a no brainer.
I think it's ridiculous that the AFL expects someone to pay THEM to host the grand final. **** right off. The QLD Govt have done all the heavy lifting that has enabled the AFL season to go ahead in the first place. The AFL should be PAYING THEM! Fair dinkum.

AFL played QLD for a sucker. It should never have risked being a hub. It has not caused any cases but with the number of breaches of the terms the players and staff were meant to be under it very easily could have.

Eagleboy2011 you should really have a read of the articles to try and get an understanding of how he was treated and the childhood he endured.

A gofundfundme page was set up earlier to help pay for his shoulder surgery. The target was $70K. Has already raised $76K.

This sort of gofundme thing in Aus really bugs me.

If he asks for financial support for whatever reason, and people throw him some dollars to thank him for being a greatest player, or to compensate for him for poor treatment, or just out of generosity, good work. [emoji120]

But to say, in Australia, that you need $70k for a shoulder operation is just wrong. With state health systems and Medicare there is no reasonable way he'd be anywhere near $70k out of pocket for any shoulder op.

Personally fully funding a complete shoulder replacement, without asking for any rebates from Gov (assuming he has no insurance), he should still get change from $30k.

We have one of the most generous health systems in the world, set up specifically so vulnerable people don't need to raise ridiculous amounts of money to get surgery. (and no, I'm not saying it is perfect or there are no waiting lists).

Just curious if you read the articles?

Also curious if you donate to any charity's on a regular basis or have ever donated to any charity's?

As an aside he didn't set up the gofundme page.

Surprised they're not copping more heat from the media. They're playing a terrible brand of football this year.

Yes I did. Good read and truly dreadful treatment. "you're on trial for striking, not being spat on".

And yes, I make sizable charitable donations on a rotating basis (to the point of where directors ring me to thank me, but I wish they would just take the money and leave me be...). Last financial year Smith family, prior Fred Hollows, year before Vinnies.

I'm wary now of who I'm prepared to donate money too. It seems to me in the case of some charity's that quite a small percentage of money donated reaches the target's of the donations.

At least with gofundme the expectation is that all of the monies are forwarded to the intended recipient

GWS would have to do much better than what's likely for that to happen.

These are the clubs around the 7-11 mark with current table points and a rough guess at their match outcomes:

WB (28): __ W: haw __ maybe: Fre __ L: WC gee
Coll (26): __ W: nor __ maybe: Car GC __ L: por bris
-----< Top-8 >-----
Mel (24): __ W: __ maybe: stk freo syd gws ess __ L:
Car (24) : __ W: Syd Adl __ maybe: GWS col __ L: bris
GWS (24): _ W: adl __ maybe: freo Mel StK Car __ L:

So GWS have to win 2 more games than WB and Coll, and 1 more game than Mel and Car to get into the top-8.

At this stage, GWS' games against teams around them on the table have become maybe-wins and I think the chance of GWS being out of the 8 is good.

QLD does deserve the Grand Final, no doubt about that.

The AFL however does NOT operate like that. If the WA Govt is offering $35M more to host the GF, compared to QLD, they will get it. No doubt about that.

Regardless of a pandemic or not and the dire economic conditions in the industry, the AFL will always take the money over fairness.

The AFL would want to be extremely careful when dealing with all of this moving forward..

The QLD gov has basically enabled the comp to continue.. if they hadve said no to the hub then its season over..

They better be sucking up to QLD and giving them the GF or, if this Covid nightmare continues well into next year, they might get told to GOGF’d if they again want a hub in QLD for next season..

WA and SA have already given them the middle finger to any hubs this year.. NSW is a risky cesspool of covid filth that cant be relied on and Victoria is a mess.. QLD might again be the only option for a hub again next year...

While I do agree with what you have said, the AFL have already shown they dont care about fairness or what is right, the MCG having the rights to the GF till 2050s is a testament to that. They dealt with the fallout of that and moved on.

I think they would rather bank on the $35M guaranteed now and then deal with 2021 issues later.

They could even offer as a sweetner the 2021 GF to QLD, if the pandemic is still an issue in Victoria deep into 2021.

Interesting to see how the Victorian sides are going away from home on a regular basis... particularly those comfortable at the MCG.
