I hope they can get a few rounds played but it's probably inevitable enough players will catch the bug that they have to suspend the season. Maybe they can suspend for a month or two and go with a 17 game minor round to have a shortened season. Hopefully teams can recover enough in the time off to resume playing competitively.Lock out .. at least we can watch games on tv still
TBH, from what I’ve read the best response would be to lock down and slow the spread of infections as much as possible.I hope they can get a few rounds played but it's probably inevitable enough players will catch the bug that they have to suspend the season. From a club selfish point of view, I hope they can achieve a near normal season result (this season of all seasons for us) and we can realise the draft picks we'll end up with given how we're shaping up and the hard work Reid & Hamish have put in in recent seasons.
Thing is though, right now teams are healthy (I'm assuming) and they're all primed for the start of the season so might as well try to get as many rounds in as possible. No telling how long they might have to suspend the season.TBH, from what I’ve read the best response would be to lock down and slow the spread of infections as much as possible.
Perhaps a delay to the start of the season and reviewing where we are in 4 weeks time would be a better approach. Round 1 starting 5,6,7 weeks from now initially empty stadiums seems like a reasonable approach. And like you say, the season still has relevance if there can be 17 games played

It's his son that I don't like.To be fair, in my indirect contact with him, Roger is a pretty good bloke.
There was an NRL game on tonight complete with crowd.Thing is though, right now teams are healthy (I'm assuming) and they're all primed for the start of the season so might as well try to get as many rounds in as possible. No telling how long they might have to suspend the season.
Play under lock out conditions and hope players on the whole can be kept as healthy as possible.
F1 GP should be stopped, or at the least have the spectators excluded. This will probably happen, now that McLaren have pulled the plug.Season needs to be suspended. We will be the laughing stock of the world if there is a massive spread of the virus as a result of the grand prix and R1 of the AFL.
First the toilet paper fiasco then this.
Australians will be made to look like fools.
That's really throwing the dice, esp in NSW.There was an NRL game on tonight complete with crowd.
Hopefully we can be proactive enough. It seems to me that countries with a reactive approach to controlling the spread of the virus are the countries that are or will shortly be suffering the bigger spreads, faster with stress on the health care systems.
The proactive countries like Sth Korea, HK, Singapore, Taiwan to name a few seem to have slowed the spread. Reduced the stress and demand on their health care. This has bought them time to plan and prepare as well as increase their ability to test larger volumes of people faster.
Australia right now is in the same place Italy was 2 weeks ago.

Not much evidence of that yet.Hopefully we can be proactive enough.
Yep! Been in Kunming for about four years now, but moving to a smaller city called Jianshui in a couple of months.Beautiful part of the world. Are you in Kunming?
A Nanning and Baise visitor myselfYep! Been in Kunming for about four years now, but moving to a smaller city called Jianshui in a couple of months.

The critical problem we face is 2 fold:
1. obviously highly infectious;and
2. You can have this thing for 5-7 days with zero symptoms, but be contagious.
So Italy is thinking ... meh we’ve got a few cases no biggy. All the while it’s spreading, people have it but they don’t Know it yet and eventually there’s exponential growth in cases.
So you may feel fine and healthy so sure go to the footy - but if you do have it you’ll likely infect dozens of others
Yes I have seen this been raised before. My understanding is that the US has learnt from the disaster when Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico where the US gets almost all their IV saline drips from.
I still think the world needs to take a united stance against wet markets and place more pressure and heat on China.
They were saying on the radio today that you need to be in contact with someone infected for more than 15 minutes?
That to me doesn’t sound right?
They said it in relation to people who met an had photos with Tom Hanks in the past few days.
Play to no crowds means the show goes on... until any players or officials start coming down with caronavirus.Would you prefer if they postpone the AFL season/ suspended it or play but everyone is locked out.
do people have opinions or preferences?
They're hoping for that, but don't actually know yet.So I’m guessing once you’ve caught it you won’t get again soon?
Weve actually dealt with this quite well in SAI learnt when we.had the State wide blackout how inept we are in a genuine crisis.

There have been cases of people who had "recovered", who subsequently tested positive again. It is uncertain at this stage whether or not you can catch it twice. So I’m guessing once you’ve caught it you won’t get again soon?
