After watching a bit of last night and now watching the Pies v Bullflogs, the AFL would be concerned about how ordinary the game is without the crowds to inject the excitement.

It is obviously a better standard but without the huge crowds not much difference to a Goody Saints v Payneham game.

If you cut expenses to the bare bones it can survive.if the league is mothballed.

I would guess there are 1500 people directly employed by the AFL and clubs..Excluding media.

If they accept a $100k salary for this season that is about a $15m payroll across the industry.

They are in a far better position than most businesses.

Isn’t 1500 x $100,000 = $150,000,000 ?

I don’t think shutting down the season is as viable as some think it is, and while the rest of society isn’t in lockdown, the risk the AFL players are taking is no different to (or probably less than) restaurant and other workers.

They should move the games to country grounds and let people drive their cars up, and honk their horns.

Collingwood playing through Keath's man a lot.

Of course we can, the tarps we are seeing now are the result of a nationwide lockdown.

The Port Power tarps were due to their hipster bandwagon supporters jumping off in record numbers.
Oh, ok then... carry on.

Has exposed a fair bit ... maybe the AFL will learn a lesson not to take match attending fans for granted .

Typical effort from a team with big name recruits in the off season. All hype, no substance
Bruce is capable of great footy but they can't win the ball.

Keath getting pantsed.

As is the Dogs midfield especially English.
