It was a crows playerWell, that's not entirely unreasonable...
Although it is unusual to be stabbed from >1.5 m away. Unless with a sword.
That would be a story.

Got to wonder why he was out in the early hours of the morning... as it's not like he was at a pub.Sounds legit.
Drug deal gone bad?

Honestly I think a footy club's influence over the private lives of their players is one of the most overrated things ever. Geelong couldn't turn around Mitch Clark's career after his issues with depression and it doesn't look like they've done any better with Stevens. At the end of the day a footy club can educate their players and provide support if needed but they can't dictate a player's social life or morality. The lad seriously should retire from football. He has had mental health issues. I am not sure what help is available but Geelong is a good club player wise . I wish him the best.

Exactly and this is proof of that. Nobody is saying Geelong is a poorly run club but we need to acknowledge they can't live their players lives for them. You cannot judge a footy club or society by their lowest common denominator.
It is Melbourne though. No doubt was just standing there, alone, minding his own business and someone wandered past and shoved a knife into his chest out of nowhere. Happens all the time. Has happened to me numerous times.
