MCG is looking after its tenant clubs (Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon, Carlton, Melbourne) by giving them between $150-200,000 match day payments for each home game they play at the MCG. Apparently it's a "goodwill gesture" following the "spirit of the long-term deal between the AFL and MCG, which will see the Grand Final being played there till 2057". Won't be holding our breath that the SMA will give Port and us the same gesture.

It's a disgrace if the revenue isn't shared across the comp. The deal is with the AFL, not those clubs

Agree, but since when does the AFL give a shyte about the whole competition.

This is just another example of a deal being done for the betterment of those in Victoria........those clubs get a monetary benefit and in return the AFL sign contracts with the MCG, in particular for the GF to be played there for the next trillion years.

You can guarantee when a deal is done the major beneficiaries are the Victorians.

Its the AFL in name only.

Surely if Port wants to wear the prison bars in showdowns only going forward, we should have a say in it.

Sure it’s flattering that they see us as so special that they want to wear fancy dress when they play us.

But in response to the request, kindly, go **** yourselves port.

In fact, if Chappy wants to leave any sort of positive legacy at this club, the day after next weeks game, he should ring Gil and tell him it must not happen and make a big stink in the media. At least we know we’ll have Eddie on our side.

Why do we need to get involved? Who cares what they wear? It has nothing to do with us. The beef is between Port and Collingwood.

Port could wear Fremantle guernseys when they play us for all I care.

Got no problem with them wearing the pylons against us. Navy kind of clashes though so maybe we'll just have to wear these.

It's funny isn't it though? We're a manufactured plastic franchise with no heart and history yet for some reason we're their grand final and biggest rival and they want to wear and do special things against us.

Can't have it both ways.

It'd be ironic if we wore this and Thommo was still one of their assistant coaches!

From memory I don't recall Fitzroy kicking up a stink that we wore red, gold and blue when we entered the competition.

Nor did we kick up when Gold Coast adopted red, gold and blue as their colours.

And Carlton and Geelong seem to exist fine wearing blue and white.

Yet Eddie/Collingwood lose their minds because Port want to wear black and white...

Because they only want to wear it against us. They clearly get some sort of warm and fuzzies when wearing the fat pinstripes and if that gives them an edge then they can ggf.

It's not so much the colour scheme as the similarity of design (i.e. vertical stripes).

I always find it funny with Powa in that they are all about heritage, yet the prison bar jumper was their 5th or 6th jumper...and they ditched it for a period of 12 years during the 40s / early 50s!!!! http://www.footyjumpers.com/portpre.htm

Still, if they want to wear the jumper that symbolises the career aspirations of the majority of their supporter base go ahead....
